did anyone catch the car show "inside west coast customs" last week?? they did an entire car they were building.... looked pretty darn good
A couple years back, there was a lamborghini that someone had spray-chromed the entire car. Saw it on a dozen different TV shows. It looked really good.
Im getting my factory wheels chromed right now with Jimmy the Wheelkid. I wonder how that spray chrome prep works as opposed to regular prep for chrome. He said it was gonna be three weeks to get the metal polished.... I wonder if there is a quicker turn around on the spray stuff like that. He said he had used the canned spray stuff on a set of tester wheels and was not happy with it.

its is possible to combine the best of both world, Powder coat durability with spray on chrome process to have a very very durable chrome like finish, I am working on that as we speak but so far no good results, more testing needs to be performed to have something simmilar to PermaStar chrome process, so far the durability of the spray on chromed parts its linked to final 2K clear coat used by different companies(spectrachrome,alsa,goldtouch,pea****labs) ...
Good luck to all who trust this spray chrome. I used to perform this process myself when it first came out around 2002. I redid so many parts because of yellowing of the parts, I stopped doing it. Looks great at first, but UV just kills this stuff. well the added durability would be awesome... its not the UV that kills the shine or make the silver go yellow,(check link) its the clear in itself, Silver Mirrors are made with normal gl*** and the light just reflect off the Silver, normal gl*** does not have UV inhibitors, if you don´t believe me put a picture frame(gl***) outside for a while and you will see how the UV fade the picture behind the gl***,(check Link) Now what causes the Silver to tarnish? Sulfur sulfur will turn Silver into Silver Sulfide, natural amounts of hydrogen sulfide/ sulfur dioxide in the air and water will tarnish the silver, even the smallest of sulfur on a clear coat will tarnish the silver overtime... now for those interested on how one can clear coat a silvered part and protect it from tarnishing by the powder coat, here is a cool LINK to a cool patent I inted on trying(not by the letter ofcourse, I don´t want to pay)
