In and around Vermont, many of the black and white shots will have a small note in the lower corner id'ing a place or time....

for sure. I love the then and now pics and appreciate the time and effort that it takes to make it happen. you need to tell us how the process works, where the orig photos come from, how you decide which ones to shoot, etc... unless it's already buried in these 1000+ pages.

I held and maintained a website starting in 2003 that kinda catered to early shoots from days gone by. The website is gone but I have 100,000s of pics stored on the hard drive and just post up what I have (many of the pics I had on my old website have been posted by others on this site, all's fair).

Also, Many of the pics are recent finds from all over the net. You never know what you'll stumble upon if you keep your eyes open and since I have a keen interest in all things historical, I will tend toward hunting pics and websites out that can be useful.

For instance, The Library of Congress has one of the best websites around, I spent many an hour fishing thru the pages many of which were hosted up in the albums on my old website.

http://www.loc.gov/pictures/index/subjects/ (Careful, it's easy to get lost in there)

Today there is a lot more info online than there was just 3 or 5 years ago. Many Official State and City Websites have historical photo sections. Finding all the pigeon holes on the net is time consuming but not as much as searching thru 100,000 online pics (on anyone of the larger sites).

"Seek and ye shall find" -The Bible

And that includes here on the HAMB,
-you can bet that I'm stashing away pics found in 'these' types of threads (just as fast as the others post them).

    -'cudos' must go to everybody.

Absolutely love this site. I build scale models of police cruisers and I especially love the vintager ones. My only problem relates to posts from blue moose do you realize everyone of your posts for the past number of pages the photos DO NOT come up. Your descriptions are therse but NO photos. I am surprised nobody has mentioned this before.:D:D

  19. Interesting that the early pic (Gompers)looks more modern(e) than the new version of the school(Horace Mann).
