This may be the first picture I've seen with rear tires spinning? Most just look to be the front. Okay maybe there is way too much damn smoke to tell in any of them

I have to agree with the statement made way back in this thread. Ford are the most goodlooking FC's ever.

I remember Tex. I always beat feet to watch him make a pass...
The man had no fear...I was sorry to see him pass...RIP Tex.
I used to run over at Aquasco with 'The Pontiac Boys"..
Ran a old 58 Chieftan conv. that used to belong to John Thayer...a local Pontiac guru..Always went over for the match races !!!
I now presently race the old Arapaho 60 Ventura that Gene Calhoun ran back then.. It's a little faster now..:DI'll post some pics for kicks & giggles..

  17. When was the last time you saw 10 Thunderbolts let alone going down the track at the same time?

Awesome pictures. This is why I joined the HAMB.

  22. Yeah, it's the Phil Bonner "Warbucks" Falcon, his T-Bolt was there too, so I guess they let him parade the Falcon too!

Muttley, THANKS for this shot! Never have seen it before-that is my Uncle Jack!!! He had a spread in Car Craft with it in 66 (I think). Beautiful workmanship and he couldn't drive a lick. I have been trying to find it as he traded it for a Camaro in or around Indy. Thanks! E

Hot Rod Magazine Yearbook also featured your uncle's car. Didnt he take it to the mid-west with him?

    WCD,
Yes, he did. My Dad owned Muncie Dragway and he ran it there a fair amount after he moved back to Muncie from Cali. I will never forget the last time I saw the car. My Dad gets a call one early evening from my aunt and asks Dad to come over right away. My uncle lived about 15 minutes away and my Dad grabbed me and we hopped in the truck and made it there in what seemed like 5 minutes. Down the road from my uncle's driveway, we could see the rear of the dragster in the ditch. Turns out that my uncle was doing a "warmup" for the track that weekend, but was doing so on a gravel road! Gravel + slicks + Hemi + darkness! What a combo! My dad was always getting Uncle Jack out of some trouble or catastrophe. I never saw that car again. About two years ago, I asked Uncle Jack if he knew who owned it now (I told him I had tried to find it) and he told me of a guy in Greenwood, IN that he heard had owned it. It was beautiful-candy apple red 'flake, chrome everything. I just recently found out from Wally Parks' son that Uncle Jack actually was the founder of the Orange County Timing Association when he moved to Huntington Beach years before.Do you know what year of the Hot Rod Yearbook? Thanks a ton! Eric
