This video brought back some very sad memories of a time when I was young and thought that Grand Prix racing was the pinnacle of motor sport. I got very disillusioned when so many of my heroes died. When Jimmy Clark died at Hockenheim I all but gave up my interest in the Grand Prix series.

I think your link is corrupt. I'd love to see the pic.

  15. I,too watched with an ever-increasing sadness with each video. To me,the 1964-68 era cars were the most beautiful of the genre;though a couple of the early "aero-era" cars had aesthetic appeal. Like a Lotus 72 in JPS livery. Simply stunning.

Without any inference to any political issues,it was sad that the drivers were for decades thought of as nothing more than expendable commodities;as disposable as changed oil. Colin Chapman, though greatly admired as a designer(and rightfully so),comes across as a heartless bastard. The race organizers even more so. I am not worthy to walk in the footsteps of the men who raced then.

Many years ago,I missed a chance(by 5 minutes!) to meet one of my "heroes";Mr. Denis Hulme. We share a birth date, and I had followed him since the mid 1960's. Sadly,he's gone, but saw so much in the time he drove. I would have loved to have just listened to him talk of those days,if he chose to.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming...

I know of at least 4, but I think there is even more still around.

One sold at Barret Jackson for 4 million a couple years back, so people with any are going to assume they are worth that in rough shape.

I did some more research and discovered that 9 out of the 12 built still exist.
