Thanks, I didn't know they weren't showing up, I could see them just fine? Question tho, where does it say AWB doesn't mean moving the wheels back, not just forward?? haha.
My favorite. My cars racing each other at Indy years before I owned them.Good as it gets.Except having them back!
Here's my street car....getting ready to build a 315 Dodge Hemi to drop in. Looking forward to that..........
Holy crap! It's the '65 Plymouth of "Captain Danger"! Looking good; let's hope it stays shiny-side-up and doesn't go "roof racing"!!! See ya soon on those heads and headers!
There was some mention of the "Kentucky Colonel" Dodge in this thread. What a shame.... downright unjust. Seeing a car that remained untouched down to the air in the tires since 1968 (untill a short while back) is enough to melt the brains of anybody who digs this stuff. Seeing that car turned into another mindlessly overdone rebody/resto is enough to make a regular guy go crazy. If I find the addy of the guy who hacked apart that car, I'll do a perimeter search of the property to reclaim whatever might remain of the Kentucky Colonel car.
The Kentucky Colonel, and many other historically significant cars, are often over-restored and it is a crying shame. When we got the Wild Child it had been "historically trashed and altered" by previous owners. We went to great pains, and with the help of Ev Rowse (original driver) and John McIntyre (original mechanic) to get it right. Ever single detail, including materials and workmanship standards was done to the way the car was in the 60's. I even made sure that details like orange peel were left in the paint, cause that is how it was done in the day. I cringe every time I see an over-restored or blatantly incorrectly restored piece of history. IMHO, Joe
Profile art that I did a few years ago for a client. This was done to visualize how he was planning to paint an AWB recreation car that he'd built. Joel www.JFNStudios.net
I agree with you 100%. Unfortunately very few think as you do. Those who go overboard are historical revisionists. It saddens me. Joel
Joel, The copy I have of that picture Dan has a Cigar in his mouth, what happened? Nice to see it here, take care Joel! Tom
Fellas, Here is a early rendering of the Honker, glad they changed it! Not sure if it has been posted but here you go.
Hi Tom, I don't have a print of the Color Me Clone with Dan and the cigar ... I forgot all about that ... don't recall why it was removed ... maybe at Dan's request? That Honker art is a little strange ... but I'm curious about it ... what does the handwriting in lower right say? Joel
Joel, The handwriting says: Black Wheel Preffered 1965 A linir? Chrysler persian white No Script Block Letters Dan and I were looking at his copy with the cigar, he likes it better! Tom
Say hello to Dan ... the missing cigar is a mystery! He has the original art, I just kept a color copy of it. Thanks for the info on the Honker art. It surprises me that they had done art to visualize the paint scheme. I wonder if Faubel or Chrysler had that done? Joel
