Dale;that is a cool pictorial from SEMA. I need to take notes at the races,as so many people have questions,I forget who is who!!What did you decide on motor mounts?Your friend got some great pictures from Irwindale, the "Rocket" looks great!!The old blue wreck looks good too.I pulled down a second place "Race Car" trophy Saturday at a local show, lost to a mega dollar,pro-built,pro-street car,OH WELL!!! ROY.

Nice job, Roy! At least you can say your is no trailer princess!
I spent some time under the car tonight (nice- you don't even have to jack up my Comet to look under it!!) trying to see how those new mounts would work. I'm not so sure the driver side will clear, as the steering shaft, along with the Borgeson joints come VERY close the stock mounts, to the thickness of a credit card. So- for the time being, I'll replace the mounts with new, stock units, set up the custom torque strap without the rubber isolator, and run with it for the time being.

Roy; I sent you a PM. Teddisnoke; to be accurate--my Comet is painted "Polar White" which is what Mercury called Wimbleton White--they are exactly the same mix though. Syl

Dale;for years I ran stock mounds with a 1/2"bolt through them so they could not pull apart.I just drilled through the mount and installed the bolt with slight tension and used a lock nut and Locktight to keep the nut on. ROY.

Quick question guys, did the 4 lug, 6 cylinder version of the '64 Comet come with 13" or 14" wheels? I didn't want to start a whole thread on this so I figured I'd ask the experts. I'm looking at buying one from a buddy that's had it sitting for 2 years. It was gifted to him by his sisters ex boyfriend that went to jail. Solid car, 4 door with a 200 ci, automatic and A/C! :D

(Any idea what these go for? All I find with searches are 2 door cars for sale. Found a 4 door in better shape here on the HAMB that went for 800 bucks)

Anywho, I've been reading through this thread for the past week or two, VERY inspiring! :D

Dale;that is a great shot and yes that is Barona.I guess he is running his FE on Alcohol,I haven't heard his times yet.If you go down there be sure you have good brakes, the sand box comes up quick,as does the turnout!!You think your Comet got dirty at Famoso, just wait until you go to Barona!! Those old race cars changed hands a lot after the "Factory"drivers stepped out of them. You would almost need to have the drivers tell where they started out before they got them!Tough Call!! ROY.

I just got this off the FE forum.

    Sol Stewart posted:

Paul Vanderley, a long time well known Gulf Coast racer and machine operator
passed away last night around midnight from cancer. Over his racing career,
Paul raced a number of vehicles, including a 1964 Comet lite weight 427 that Randy Deliso has recently bought and restored and a Maverick. Our prayers to
his wife Kay and his son Dan and the rest of his family...

    Roy

I found the perfect shop for all of our Comets. We need to team up and buy it but it would be Bad Ass and the Comets would feel at home.

The old SACHS and SONS Dealership is up for sale.

Sorry to hear that. I believe Paul was in York last year with Randy and the 64 Robinsons Comet. I Kept missing him, was going to have him sign my dash. He seemed fine up there. Sad News

Heres a video I took of him running the Comet down the track.

Rolled back from the All Ford Show at Knotts. Wow!!! First, in with the race cars. Okay, that was kinda cool. Saw a few bitchin rides, no doubt. But, you really get your fill on the Mustangs. Not the old ones, they are pretty cool. Its the late model stuff. It goes on for miles and miles. The smell of greasy ArmorAll and pina colada scent from the airfresheners is a bit overwhelming. I DEFINATELY was the only altered straightaxle car in attendance, but I think I may have been the only Mercury, with the exception of some Capris and Merkur's. C;mon Roy, give me a much needed updaye from the races. Next year, I hit the ANRA opener!!!

Well guys, not good!!! The Comet went WAYYYYY UP on my only pass,2nd gear while still airborne, nice straight pass,1/10 quicker than it has ever gone at Famoso!!The bad news is it is seriously wounded, won't know what let go until I can get it in the garage and torn down!!!Milk shake in the radiator, milk shake in the engine, milk shake all over the engine compartment, quite a mess!!! Dale;I told you Knotts would be full of newer Mustangs,it is a joke,if I wanted to see new Mustangs I'd go to a Ford Dealer!!!Brian;weather at the track was good, had to drive through snow to get there,WTF!!!!Global warming my ASS!!! ROY.

Since it's probably going to be a long time before I get another '64, maybe I'll just have to buy this shirt.
