I am toying with the idea to put the hood side on my car. I am undecided I like it both ways but once I put them on they are going to chip and mark up the cowl paint so there will be no going back. What do you guys think and don't worry about hurting my feeling I'm a big boy and can take it.Darrell
Since your car has cowl lights and horns, it looks out of place to run the stripped down, no hood side vibe. So even though it covers up that nice flatty, I vote to run the hood sides.
Given the two options I would go with the sides...that said, there is another option, no hood at all. There are a number of ways to keep the hood sides from scarring up the cowl paint, I wouldn't let that issue influence your decision. BTW, nice looking 5w!
Gotta have hood sides IMHO..helps maintain the swoopy lines built into 33-34 fords. Even my non-fendered 34 [with 33 grille and hood] has hood sides. I deviated a little by welding in 34 chevy master hood vents. I think the horizontal vents make the front look a little longer.
I've always liked the 34's with the hood sides on and you can easily see the engine through the louvers anyhow.
Don't do it! Send them to me instead......LOL! But seriously.. How is your hood top fixed at the moment without sides? my '34 came with a Rootlieb hinged top but no side panels and I still don't have any, I don't like those bars with latches on them and have been meaning to devise a better way of keeping the hood secure. I'd like a set of originals really with proper handles etc but kind of rare over here. L.P.
I like your car better with them on. Which is kind of funny, since yesturday, I just pulled the hood sides off of my full-fendered 34 5-window.
I personally prefer hood sides. I have them on my '34 and haven't had any issues with chipping paint on the cowl. The hood lacing seems to keep the hood sides away from the cowl area. Use caution when latching and unlatching the hood and you should have no problems. Jim
I think you better put your sides back on now.Just kidding your car looks great hope you have fun with it.Darrell
That is it when you latch it up it seems to alway chip the paint around the hole in the cowl.I think I should paint them see how it looks then.Left fits great but the right side has problems at the front bottom to much gap loks bad.Your car looks great I like the white paint don't see many that color. Darrell
Well, I have always loved the Checkered Flag style of your firewall (and you know why, of course) but I do kinda like the look of the sides on. Check out my quick retouch. Barry
Maybe the lazy ass painter could paint them then I would not have to photo shop them. Oh you are my painter I better be nice until there painted. And my other cousin Barry did the photo shop below. thanks to both cousins Darrell
Thanks Darrell. Actually it's Dove Grey, although it does look white in the picture (which was taken by a "professional" photographer for use in an upcoming calendar). Here is the "money shot" that the calendar will use. Jim
