Got a little update here. Jimmy and WC got back from the roundup and have been playing a little catch up since then. Their trip with Emerald Tide to the roundup was a success. Here's just a little of what Jimmy has been working on since then. In this first picture pay close attention to the piece that is in back of the hood. It will get welded to the cowl and replace the cowl vent. Notice he has made a raised section in the middle to carry the body line from the hood on to the cowl. Originaly the body line stopped at the back of the hood. Now it looks complete.

Now he will weld it into the cowl and finish it off.

Next he works on the firewall. He thinks it's easier to make a new firewall rather than to modify the original one. Easy for him to say!!! First he draws it out on the computer.

Next he punches it out on his computerized punch.

Here's the completed firewall and in place ready to spot weld in.

Next he makes the toe board that goes between the bottom of the firewall and the floor at an angle.

Next he mocks up the fender and hood to see how it's going to look. The hood doesn't fit properly yet because it hasn't been sectioned yet but trust me when he gets done it will be right on the money.

Here's just a couple random shots. Check out the reflection on the roof of the shell sign on the wall. It shows how straight it is.

It's hard to tell from this picture how low it is but the running board is just a few inches from the ground. I think it's going to set real good.

I'll keep the updates coming as they come available.

I met Jimmy at the Round Up and he is a really nice guy. I had a chance to "inspect" the Emerald Tide up close and all can say is WOW!

Jimmy's tallent is amazing and yet he is so humble about it.

I saw the green '34 at Austin and it's seemingly flawless.

A lady with the car, his wife I think, told me he fabricates metal (not rods) as his day job and he that has access to that shop for working on his cars.

Pfftt. With a shop like that, who couldn't do that work?

Me! Not without being reincarnated, this time with talent and having another life to develop it.

I hear ya Ryan. Seeing Jimmy's work in person is really inspiring. At the same time it makes me feel like such a hack.

Ryan someone needs to make a film about Jimmy to add to your "people who make things with their hands" features....he's as good as it gets...
