was wondering what experiences people have had or having with the weind 174 blowers .I fitted one to my 302 clevo which stock apart from a tq20 cam and it dynoed 370hp.
No, he means 302 cleveland. We had them down under until the early 80's. I ran a b&m 144 blower on a sbc. It ran fine ,but no great hp gain.
FWIW, here in the U.S., some of us engine builders put Cleveland heads on the SBF Windsor block and its called a Clevor. But our friends from down under, had something similiar from the factory in the early 80's as already stated.
How much boost are you running? Any problems with the Teflon strips? What carb are you running? Flatman
I expect you would need to drop the compression ratio for that motor for it to be able to take much boost, and likely get a cam with less duration. I don't know what the stock compression ratio is for those motors, but it must be good to have 370hp.
have one on my 306 sbf 750 mech sec demon 397 rwhp 7 lbs boost 11.7 at 118 mph love it theres better but this one is mine
What are your objectives? Just to have a blower? To make XXX hp and XXX torque Improve 1/4 mph? Those blowers to work, and 5 - 10 psi is possible depending on cam, etc. Spin it hard and add a methanol injection plate under the carb and you won't need to drop compression. Also, I seem to remember the pumps over there had a bit higher octane number... Spend money on a wide band if you really want to make it work well.
there were a few built around here Windsor block and Cleveland heads in dirt mods, strip, and street using both two and four brl heads
My son races a circle track late model stock car powered by a 355 cu in Ford Windsor block with 2V Aussie Cleveland heads. They have smaller valves and smaller combustion chambers.
A 302 with cleveland head would make a good combination. How hard is it to part them on the U.S. version?
