    Cut-up,

You mentioned that you've got a few ideas that would help out. If you have an idea of what you need, we can sketch it out and make you what you need. The first version of a slide system may not be exactly what you need but it would be a start and you would be able to see how you want version #2 different.

How much travel would you need on a slide? Would a "tri-pin" wheel adapter similar to the one in post #129 work? I'm guessing that you may be able to move the final hand platform from slide to slide depending on what and where your welding. The slide could be bolted or clamped in place to make the weld....

A few years ago I was part of a group that built a walker for a guy that was permanently attached to a ventilator. I guess most ventilator patients never go home from the hospital. With the exception of his lungs that didn't work he was otherwise healthy. He had to carry a 45 pound ventilator, oxygen tank, de-humidifier and suction pump around the house with him 24-7. Our walker allowed him get in and out of the shower and reach areas of the house he hadn't seen since he came home from the hospital. I have a video of the finished walker here:

Let me know what you think and what ideas you have in mind and we'll see what we can do......DAVE

Nicely done. First time I welded in the chair, a spark landed in my lap, and of course I couldn't feel it. Burnt a hell of a hole in my pants and leg. Gotten a leather apron since then

  17. Well I'm pretty damned jadded but I'm impressed.

Suggestions? Do what you can and get help with what you can't. Keep thinking you are a fabricator as time goes on you will come up with ideas to help you do the things that you need help with today.

    keep on keepin' on.

  19. Thanks again for all your words of support. I have been doing what i can, but at this stage theres not alot of 'little' jobs that can be put in front of me to weld, those will come along soon however.

It all depends on wether or not i have a helper who can not only work on the car but think laterally to get me setup, its very frustrating knowing the the dude getting me seup could have just done the job in a tiny fraction of tghe time.

Also the welders been sending residual currents through my body when im welding, its probably nothing out of the ordinary but my nervous system is shot and i feel electrified, very un-nerving.

So im sad to say i havent made my auto filler feeder yet, still havent nutted it out, will have to read back and regather all your advise. But when i read your comments i feel motivated to make it happen so thanks again.

Look up my build thread if you like to see where im at.

  20. A friend of mine fell down some stairs and has been a quad for 8 years. I just recently found out about it. I have visited him 5 times in the last year as he is 150 miles away. He is actually bed ridden and can barely talk. I hope as many do that Stem cell research will help with your ailment and many others. Lots of incredible leaps and bounds are happening in modern medicine. You my friend is what makes us appreciate life. Never give up is what my friend says and I agree!! Glad you are giving it your all!!!

I can feel a small bit of what you are dealing with. I have nerve damage in my back and am in my chair more and more each day. My 17 year old son does most of the setup work and light welding and I do the structural welding on his frame. I do not have any advise but I am impressed with your attitude and perseverance.

Good luck and never give it up!

Man you are a true hot rodder with the passion to build cars.Looks like your frame is coming along good.I like the cool holes in the side rails. What is the chassis going under? That would be cool if some of us HAMB members could help with your project. If you lived near me I would be over tomorrow to help design a track so you could weld more without stopping. You are inspiration for all of us.

  27. cutupcars, In 1996 I was diagnosised with a rare disorder, Guillain-Barre that left me paralyzed from the chest to my feet , including my arms and hands. I am now 95% recovered as they were able to filter my blood. I still was not able to move fully for over 4 months. Check out these two TIG rod handles that I have ......they are yours if you can use them. One is just a handle the other is a roller handle. PM me your address and I will send them out if you can use them....

This is one of the coolest things I have heard. You seem to be a very inspirational person by this. You make me not take so much for granted. Please more pics of your project and your welding setup.

Cut Up: You're my new hero. So inspiring! Keep on that project and maybe you'll find the key to helping others in the same situation. It would mean so much to so many. Meanwhile, you may be making slow progress on the car, but you're making progress. That's way better than some of us. Including me, these days...
I'm cheering you on every day.
