It's been a while since I've taken you guys for a ride...

LOve the laugh before you say " Thats what it's all about ". No truer words have ever been spoke. Having a 4 speed car myself I know how you feel. Glad I grew up when I did. The Fart can Honda guys will never get it

 

Man, you said it. There was one "must" when I built my hot rod...4-speed...I couldn't have lived with myself otherwise. The 60's did a lot of things to me, good & bad, and the eternal fascination of going through the gears was one of them. My little four barrel, open header 283, backed by the Saginaw 4-speed is like night & day compared to my stinkin' little Miata (although the little thing does like to corner). Thanks for the inspiring video...next time we want to see the road. There will be a next time...right?

 

Thanks for the ride Sam. I own a 55 with a M21 and 408 small block. When I was building it, I found out a friend had a M22 just sitting in his garage. I bugged the hell out of him to sell it to me, but never got anywhere. That was about 20 years ago and I bet the trans is still sitting there.

My first ride in the '55 is every bit as memorable as my first ride in Ol' Roachy.. just couldn't raise my hands as high.

Great pictures and write-up, Sam. It's a shame to sell it but I guess you have to let stuff go to move on and build something else. There's no way you could build that car for what you're asking. Someone's gonna end up with a neat 55!

If I win the lottery this week it will be mine.

 

11.60's... spinning the tires through 1st gear.

The only time it has hooked was at Bakersfield... and it pulled the front wheels on each run and ran 11.70's... but the carb wasn't set up right to launch with it hooking like that, so it didn't 60ft that great.

Realistically, I could probably run low 11's if I spent some time with the chassis and carb...

I don't have anything that barks that hard, probably a good thing, still too immature to have a street/drag racer, it would be like when I was a kid, drivers license always suspended. Do lite up my 32 occasionally, melts the tires, but not really a fast car, just a cruiser. Spring/ summer can't come fast enough here in Wi. Thanks! again, for bringing this thread up. John
