Wish you luck, hope it works out, or you get a way to retrieve it. I'd hate to leave that car unattended.
i wouldn't have left that car anywhere unattended! get on the phone boss and call in one of the local HAMB members thats what they do!
Drive an old car long enough and it'll happen. Good luck. A funny story just came to mind. Transportation gone wrong: When I was going to school at a local ju-co I had to go take a final exam for a class. Got in my normally trusty, yet POS, OT daily driver started down the block and my dang tie rod broke!!! Seriously wtf???? So I limped it off the road, abandoned it and walked back home. Tried to call people I knew for a ride....no dice. So sat there for a minute and thought about it...then it came to me. "AH HA! I'll drive my hot rod!" (Normally I wouldn't bc I'd be afraid some punk would steal***** off of it in the parking lot but thought 'what the hell') So I fired it up and headed for town. Came up on an accident in front of me. Went to pull around the glass and debris....THEN MY DANG THROTTLE CABLE BROKE! So now I've got 2 cars on the side of the road. Saw a lady I knew going by and flagged her down for a ride. Used her cell to leave a voice mail on my dad's cell phone. The funny part was some guy told him he saw the hot rod on the side of the road before he got the message. So he goes home to check on the situation.....and finds my POS on the side of the road first. "WTH Happened here ....got cars*****tered all over the place" All turned out ok....but it could have been bad if somebody would have stole my hotrod. Sorry....memory just came back on that one....had to write it....
Dang Ryan, That is never fun and I think an even worse feeling than if it was a modern daily driver. I have had this happen a few times....its AWFUL! Good luck my friend, hope it's and easy fix and the '39 is back on the blacktop in no time!
Just remember if it was a brand new Chevy truck, you'd have a ZERO percent chance of fixing it on the road by yourself and a pretty hefty repair bill too. The new***** breaks too.
Never fear Ryan, I'll throw a few things in the'32 and head your way. 10 years on the road and never failed to get me home. I should be there sometime Saturday AM. so if you get going before that just leave a note and I'll meet you for breakfast sunday morning...........I'll buy. Frank
Had that kinda thing happen to me a couple of times, once it was the aforementioned wire in the dual point. The other time it was harder to find. Turned out to be the damned fuseable link in the wire. I still think that car looks like a "Tennesee Tanker".
Looks as though it's the stupid**** modern Mallory breakerless dizzy that took a*****. Tardel told me to get rid of that thing... I should have listened.
Hindsight is 20/20 There is certainly no substitute for a good ol' fashion breakerpoint dizzy....or a nice hot Mag I always say.
lost fire in mine a while back. Turned out that the duraspark dizzy took a dump. Hope ya have on your best walking shoes.
Ha! You drive a hot rod daily and this is the first breakdown? You get no sympathy from me. If I did that I'd have had 50 breakdowns by now. A nice rebuilt stock '42 distributor will cure your problem.
At least you can file points if they get a lil burnt and it's easy to keep a spare or two in the glove box. I thought the purpose of a car like that is to keep it simple and stay away from that complicated electronic*****. What's the deal with the glass? I must of missed something somewhere. Did the car come that way or was it just a misfortune after he bought it?
i've logged a foot mile or two due to mallory ignition parts, the distrubutors do make good wheel chocks tho.
Can't tell you how many Ignitor's we sell as replacements for Mallory distributors Let me know what you need and I will send you one at NO CHARGE. Don from PerTronix
