Bottle opener / license plate light

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ONE CRUSTY ONE, Apr 22, 2011.

  1. There are times when I attend a car show that I need a beverage. Now where's the dog gone bottle opener? I also needed a license plate illumination light.
    PROBLEM SOLVED
I bored a 3/4" hole through the body of my truck above the license plate, attached a small interior light (from an Isuzu door) covered the light with a piece of plexi glass, attached a bottle opener with screws long enough to go through the panel and light. Wired the light to my tail lights. Now I have a back lit bottle opener / license plate light. There's enough light to be legal for the state patrol.
Drink responsible, these beers consumed at home, we just had to try it out.

  10. Thanks for all the nice comments. Go here to see what else the bottle opener mfg has to offer. www.bottleopener.com
I really like the "HOME BREWED" opener.

More info, the light base is from Isuzu Trooper doors, Isuzu Rodeo doors, and I've found them on Honda Passport doors.

ZING! stealing this!! When i was a tike, my grandfather retired and i helped him take his opener off the wall at his business and put it next to his old time clock which he'd moved to his home wood shop.

After he died i took that opener off the wall and have been saving it for a good idea to come along.

I don't drink, so forgive me for asking, but do beer bottles still need openers like this? I thought everthing had gone to screwtops?

I like the ingenuity tho, well done!

  19. Awesome! Thanks, but I'm swiping your idea for my Dodge flatbed truck! I was racking my brain to think of something cool and also have a bottle opener that I wanted to mount "somewhere" on the truck. BOTH problems solved!!!

  20. That is a great idea!

  27. HAAA! That's freakin' cool!

Most good beer won't have a screw top. I always tell my brother, "life is too short to drink shitty beer!" He still doesn't get it. Ah well, he's 82. He can drink whatever the hell he wants.

    I love the opener/light idea!
