I can hardly wait for the R&C little book to come out and watch all of the people here ***** about the number of ads! The reason that they were dumped in the first place is due to the fact that they are hard to display on the news racks. So, I suspect that they will work some sort of deal to use special racks and sell through auto parts stores. Source Interlink seems to have a deal on selling their magazines through AutoZone and O'Rilley's.

If they use the same business plan that they use for HOT ROD DELUX, it's a license to print money.

Just wanted to point out that there are a number of little pages type books out there,That are struggling in this economy. Most all of these dont have a big publishing concern behind them for promotion and distribution they are produced by regular hot rodders that use their websites to sell there wares They can be linked to through Roadsters.com books and magazines page. Please support them.

Actually, "they" wasn't dumped, rather, upsized (larger format) when the trend dictated the necessity. ("They" wasn't dumped till years later when Peterson decided to pull the plug without warning.) As far as having any special racks, that's not in the so called business plan--it will be newsstand-only...regular old newsstands, just like all the other magazines Source publishes. Not quite sure what you mean by having a license to print money, but if that were the case, there'd be no need for advertisers in the first place, would there?!

Anyway, Little Pages is set to hit the 'stands the first week of May. With Ryan's help, since there won't be any special racks serving as visual aids, I'll have a preview of the cover up soon so you'll know what to look for.

I take part of that back--we may get special "pockets" at select retail outlets, which already exist for some of the cl***ified type periodicals that are slightly smaller. Otherwise, we're just hoping for front-row seats on the newsstands.

RF, meet Dennis. Dennis, meet RF. You guys could have great and long discussion. One of you has seen almost everything imaginable in publishing, and the other could give hope to any real future of print publishing.

HR Deluxe is a good effort because many of today's younger rodders are just discovering the legacy of the hobby from the vast Petersen photo archives. And HRD is publishing tons of stuff they already own (and damn near lost) with little additional costs. Win-win.

But what is going to be the "hook" for a little pages R&C? More old achieve pics? Re-published car features? Check my posts - I bleed print ink, but it better be something truely p***ionate or it's just another revenue effort.

...so with the full-size R&C becoming as thin as tissue paper lately, is the plan to immediately (or eventually) dump the full size in favor of the "little pages" and/or an online version? I sure hope not!

Nope. This is just an annual, it has no affect on the big 'uns--that is, with the possible exception of the much heavier paper stock, which hopefully will rub off to combat the ink from doing just that.

  21. Too bad you can't sell the back cover ad with an inch less on the bottom so you can put the ****-ugly UPC code there... it only gets more obtrusive with the smaller format.

The size of the magazine doesn't impress me. It's the content. If the content is just ads for companies and no real tech articles like the original little pages used to have, then it's still the same old ****.

Sorry I'll keep reading the HAMB to see what guys are building in their garages and not what is for sale with a credit card. I grew up with the little pages. A new size does nothing for me. Sorry but all of my old magazines have turned their back on me and I do carry a grudge.

The cover "seems" exciting! I allready subscribe to HR Deluxe, so I get a good dose of history. If this becomes a quarterly thing, it would be nice for it to contain "first run" articles rather than the same stuff. Maybe fill the void RC's original father Hop Up left?
