WOW... is that a real 78mph or is speed like alchol in Utah? kinda a little less.....so like 68. hahaha...still impressive. Thats the stock block with ALL the machine work and later mains?
Damn...Thanks Chris...I remember asking about that OD unit now. This whole build reeks with the flow, of old Ford ingenuity. Really kinda sets a new bar...like what "IS" possible, if we twist and bend all this old Ford, Mercury, Lincoln stuff together...
Ya gotta think Whitey that he got at least 5 more mph from that chop being so heavy. I guess as long as you keep the chop at 5" or more a T5 is not necessary haha!!!

Yes that was real 78 mph! I should of took some pics of that gps when we were passing cars. The top speed I had for the trip was 86 mph. But ran 75- 80 most of the way. With the overdrive and the tall tires in the rear, the engine was only turning about 2100 rpm at 75 mph. I'm very happy with it's performance. Can't wait to get back at it. Need to finish up the chop and some other body work. Then it will get a "brush" paint job like the ones I seen on a tread a couple weeks ago.

Well just not very happy with the tires themselves . I have only been running them for one summer and they are coming apart! I called Coker and the said that they had discontinued that tire and didn't want to help me out! So I will not buy a "Coker" brand tire ever again!
Ouch! And they are the front tires. I figured it was because of a 'spare' tire in the middle of nowhere issue. BigKen had a heck of a time trying to find 17's a couple of years back for a 'road fix' and finally a restorer let him borrow a set. Even though your not a huge fan of COKER, have you seen the Coker excelsior tires? Also, dumb question.......but, where the tires the "display purpose" ones? I'm not defending COKER, but just wondering. Heck we drive to Bonneville from Kansas on 'swapmeet' tires. Chris Nelson Kansas

I assume you are referring to the 59D. It's a 35-36 Ford. Speaking of the 59D, Jobcorp is being modest, because he fails to mention that his Hotrod also performed flawlessly on this trip. I even witnessed him do a couple of burnouts while we were messing around in Vegas. That shows his confidence in his machine. Not too bad for a guy from Wyoming.

Bad ass you guys. Bravo. Man, that pic of the tire is scary! That's a Coker tire? Looks like a Firestone. What other choices do you have in 17s? So which do you prefer? With hood or without hood?
Thanks! Yep it's a Coker. They kind of look like a Firestone. I have had Firestones and never had any problems like this on any of our other cars. Not many choices on this size. I Think I will try the excelsior next time? For the hood? I like it both ways!
This thread made my day. Both cars look awesome going down the road. The chop on the coupe came out perfect, and it's great to see the 59D back in action. Looking forward to seeing them both at Speed Week this year.(?)
