    i use mint.
some mint oil on some cotton balls here and there, and the mice are gone and stay gone... plus it doesn't smell like moth balls. it's had the added benefit of helping to keep mildew at bay, as far as i can tell as well.

5-gallon bucket filled halfway full of water.
somesort of board to act as a "plank".
cover the top of the water with birdseed or sunflower seeds.

the mice will think that it's full and that they can jump out of the bucket, but once inside they drown. just leave the door open and maybe have the "plank" go from the door to the bucket. This works GREAT for getting rid of ground squirals and chipmunks too. just besure to stirr the water around a bit before sticking your hand in to dig the dead one's out. Keep count of how many you get.

    long term... Irish Spring soap.

    best of luck!!

I disagree, I have used the electronic units since the 80's have them in all my garage's motor homes and the house,s. Have never had any problems since. The professional peope don't want you to know they work or they would be out of business. older and wiser

Chemicals, noise, traps...only a CAT offers long term deterrence, automatic reset, sustained attack, and adjustable intensity. The adjustment is handled by cutting rations if cat gets lazy...

I hope all upholstery in there is crap, because I think there is no alternative to ripping out anything soft and washing the hell out of the metal.

Mice don't like people. If the car is being loaded on a trailer and towed down the highway they will bail (the living ones anyway). Its the leavings that are hard to get rid off. Before taking it inside your shop, stop by the big box home improvement store and get a couple gallons of muriatic acid and mix it in a 5 gallons bucket with some water. Use that to decontaminate the interior surfaces. Just wear plenty of eye and lung protection and use low pressure water to rinse to avoid splashback.

Thats an old trick I learned from an Emily Griffith Opportunity School instructor in the 1970s when they restored old aircraft that have been sitting. I was just a kid and I always wondered later that it didn't damage the aluminum but it must have etched it nicely for zinc primer. I've since used that trick to clean scale out of aluminum radiators also with a baking soda rinse afterward.

I agree with the traps.I have used the dryer sheets in my boat when its put away for the winter and all i seam to find in the spring is all kinds of mouse shit on them and chewed up wiring insulation from their winter partys.Im not convinced the dry sheet do anything but take care of the fish smell left over from the summer before.

....if you go this route, remember when mixing this corrosive stuff to add the bad stuff last (i.e. add the acid to the water). Doing it the other way around makes the water boil and splatter instantly and you will look like the 'Elephant Man'....beware

I was going to use Moth balls, but I couldn't get their legs apart. I have had good luck with an old overflow tank with some antifreeze in it. They go in through the open cap, and either can't get back out, or are poisoned anyway. I accidently left one in the garage and discovered five mice in it, dead and embalmed.

I own a pest control company and if these electronic plug in devices worked I would use them. Think about it, I would not have to use expensive rodent baits and spend time using traps. I find people all the time using dryer sheets and what we find is that it makes good nesting material for the rodents. Last fall one of my customers swore by dryer sheets in a classic 1966 Ferrarri untill rats and mice chewed up the seats, door panels, carpet and wiring. Not a chance I would take in my shop, I always use a few snap traps set in the shop just in case. Mothballs are used in our industry to drive out snakes in certain areas not to be used as a rodent repellent. Good luck.

Lots of great info here. I had the same issue a couple of months ago with a truck I brought home. The mice were gone by the time the truck got here, but the engine bay was full of their leftovers.

To tell you the truth, I didn't want to deal with it (and had read about the health risks), so I just paid an automotive detailer to come over with his pressure washer and take care of it. He did a much better job than I could/would have, and the engine looked brand new when he was done. Best $100 I ever spent.

hi, make sure you use a good breathing mask when cleaning out that car even after the mice are gone. hantavirus is a nasty side effect of mouse droppings and mouse dust, and can get pretty serious in a hurry, even fatal. Ray

  26. How about a couple (like 5) road flares?
Light em up someplace inside where they dont burn the car down & see what happens.
Close all doors & windows....you tube it.

We've had the "professionals" in to get rid of mice and they build nests in the nice plastic bait stations. I picked up some "Just One Bite" poison. Put it out one Friday night. Came in Monday and there were dead mice all over the floor. They were dried out.

We had tried D-Con and the mice loved it. They got up on the shelf and chewed through the box to eat it all.

I know what works and I understand that you have a company that you have to support, but I will stay with the electronic units.
