If money was no object I'd go with a blown 409 Chev!

A 268 flathead 8 with dual carbs out of a pontiac. Had a chieftain, so I know the beauty of a flattie.

  7. How about a little ole 358" ? Runs in excess of 10,000rpm, 168 mph. Please note, single 4 barrel carburetor.

  8. Just got word from the crew that this engine propelled Jeff Lane, (Hancock and Lane Racing) to a new national record in Boise over the weekend. With two fours on this already fast machine, it recorded a 7.94 e.t. @ 171 mph.

My first choice would have to be a cadillac flathead if i had the money and could round up all the speed parts for one. Heck id take a stock one if i could find one. My next choice would be any one of the other old v8's already mentioned i could get my hans on and could find all the shinny parts for. Execpt a small block chevy! Did anybody say DeSoto hemi yet?

  15. You'd have a hard time besting a blown hemi with all the right vintage stuff !
