I think fenders are more 50s than 40s. look in any magazine from the 50s and you will see candy colored model As with white interior full fenders with wide whites and lots of chrome too!

I *think* it was more like September of '51.

Check this one out. It was on ebay a few years ago. It was different, so I kept pictures of it. Talk about trimmed fenders!

The only real* reason to not have fenders is if you plan on speed testing ala Land Speed Racing. Fenders usually only came off for competiton...usually.;)

    *as in functional, not aesthetics.

My Grandpa's '29 A-V8 in 1952. The car was built in 1946 and Grandpa bought it in 1951.

I am collecting parts to build an exact duplicate of this car...I even have Grandpa's original Intake and dash from this very car!

    ...is this a trick question???

YGTBSM, ...fenders have been traditional since the 20's.

I'm amazed at some of the questions, ...simply amazed!!

...we now return you to regular programming.

True. I was just sayin'. There were just as many as the other back then and everyone had their reasons. I have favorites both ways.

Im liking how the rear wheel really fills up the fender... What size are those wheels and tires.

Yep, 5" chop. Rear window is only chopped 4" though to reduce a bit of the mail-slot effect and make it proportionate with the side windows.

It will run around in a light blue tinted primer this season. Ultimately it will be the same color as the wheels.

6.00-16 Firestones up front, 7.50-16 Firestones out back.
