Bob Kammer with the Weekend Warior 1960 Plymouth convertible drag car (now I challenge anyone to find pictures of that car) He still runs Kammer and Kammer race engines in Dayton
The old Holt and Whitacre Rambler, ran under the index with a straight six. Driven by Tom Whitacre and built by John Holt who owns a local chassis shop here in Columbus. The Rambler body is sitting behind his shop.
Kroninbiter's 60 Chevy Bits and Pieces, I cant remember the owners name but his brother Pat has a chassis shop in Baltimore Ohio and does all my work that I dont do myself his shop is called PK Race Cars works with his son Andy.
I worked for Dallas Lunsford who ran S/S Camaro's & Chevelle's.Also worked for a gentleman named Dick Vest,Dick ran fed's until an engine fire. Then he switched to door slammers.Dick took me to Ohio Georges shop when I was in high school, that was a field trip now! Both owned Knollwood Shell in Beavercreek.Anyone remember these guys?
Sorry, no pictures, but don't forget about "Fast Eddie" Schartman from the southwest side of Cleveland. I believe he's in the Drag Racer's Hall of Fame?
i grew up in beavercreek..knew them all well.dallas bother, harold i see almost every weekend in the summer.dick vest passed away.does the name big dan thompson mean anything?he is still around too.dick vest drove a T-bucket till he died.his daughter had it last i knew.
How about the Longneckers Paul and Tom. Greenville? They had stockers,a mod/p stick shift wagon AND a t/f car!
Those names are all familiar to me.Harold had a Pearl White 57' Nomad when we worked at the Shell station.Big Dan had a black Camaro with a set of HUGE rear tires.I seen Ohio George a few years back in Bowling Green Ky. at the Hot Rod Reunion;he gave me the news about Dick V.The last time I saw Dick was at the Hara Arena car show,he did have the T-bucket.I may have a picture of it somewhere.I also was told that Dallas is somewhere in the Carolinas.I loved working for these guys, great high school job & memories. Thanks for responding.
