I sold my Plymouth to a great guy and he was taking great care of it! It seems the rear lag bolts on the drivers side sheared off of the wheel adapter, dropping the car to the pavement, which ripped off the gas filler which is inside the rear fender (full tanks of gas) and when the STEEL hit the pavement it created sparks... the picutres tell the rest of the story....
great pics. You may try spell check also lag bolts, stell, picutres where a little hard to figure out. No offense intended I goof up my spelling all the time.

Yeah Well I hold my wheels on with lag bolts, use turbine muffies, stear with dye rod ends... Come on guys give me a "brake"....
Yes there is spell checker it is the little ABC in the top right hand corner of the text window. Offense wasn't my intention but since you take it that way it is all about taking a little pride in what you produce. Something that was common when traditional rods were not yet traditional.

When I sold it it had 1/2 spacers on the rear because the Ranger axle combined with the wheel offset allowed the tires to rub on the body when traveling over bumps that twisted the suspension. From Paul's letter to me about the fire I think he added spacers to stop the rubbing... Spacers are ok, they are used offroad, but man you gattah watch 'em very carefully
So you just sold him the car and all this happened on the way home from the purchase? If this is the case you might see a law suit heading your way. With or without an as-is statement. Oh and dont feel so bad. I could read what you wrote. People that have to use spell check dont need to be critical.
That really ****s! I cringe(hope thats spelled right) every time I see a wheel adapter on a car. I will never use them on anything of mine,seen them fail too many times. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Hope he had good insurance.
By the way, "spell checker" would not have corrected "lag bolts" as it is a correctly spelled word! (For you "english" majors!) Seriously ****s about the car-thank God nobody was hurt!
Same as at the factory. Never by a car built on Monday morning or Friday afternoon. I really wasn't trying to get on your case I am sorry you took it that way. That used to be a coupe is painful to look at. Does the new owner think it can be salvaged? I sure hope it can be saved.
Thanks ... these pictures ruined my day, my weekend... and today... likely as much as Paul's. Sold it in July to Paul and we talked about the car a lot in emails and the things he was doing to make it even better, he's a good guy and a great enthusiast. He'll be back.
I highly doubt the lug nuts failed, I would bet the farm the wheel was not piloting on the flange of the adapter, and the flange of the face of the adapter and the back of the wheel were not contacting properly, the torque of the lugnut was misleading you. Adapters are accidents waiting to happen, and by no means are universal in there applicationsthat they fit. HURST RACING TIRES
