Vintage shots from days gone by!

This is a very interesting website from the lead and zinc mining era in North Eastern Oklahoma and South Eastern Kansas. There are some great old photos and mining history of the area. Some of the areas are still on the Super Fund cleanup list from what I understand.

The grill shell is Packard 12 and the mascot is the Packard Cormorant. Also you can make out the Packard 12 cloisine on the rear skirts as LeBarron did. I believe it is a 1934 as well. As to the driver I haven't eaten my carrots lately but could it be Joe E Brown?-Jim

 

Might be Richard Bell, a former owner of the car (Clark Gable's 1106 LeBaron).

Did these guys reace on dirt? It seems that they are using a rather aggressive tire tread for an asphalt raceway. They look like an all-terrain truck tire today.

 

Perhaps mini-moke MS tires? Or farm wagon tires? Race on Sunday and haul veggies the rest? Gary
