Tired of bending my neck. I have one of them suction cup things and all it does is fall off. I'm thinking about getting the bolt on type, but I see the prism is lexan, not glass like old ones. Anyone have one of the new bolt on ones made by glide? Are they any good? and what about these?http://www.lightinsight.com/ Thanks
I'll be watching this thread. I need one too, can't see squat out of my coupe. I'd like to find an old one for sure. Pics anyone?
I had one in my chop top F100 and the suction cup has dried out and it won't stick any more. I would like to find something that works.
I've been using one of those in my Anglia for 6 or 7 years, they work great and are hardly noticeable.. CC
I can help you with the 49-52 style Guide reproduction. Its nice quality and works good. Bolt on or new chrome metallic base. PM me your phone number and I will call. Big Rich
I use the lightinsight on my cars and they work. You can also use it on the lower part of the windshield as well.
where do you position it ,in front of you ,or in the middle of windshield. It looks pretty big,can U cut it down? and it it very noticeable.I know its not a "traditional" one,but at least its made in USA
I use them because I am tall. I position it at the base of the windshield. Depending on the car, it is placed in-between directly in front of me, and the center of the windshield as the curvature and rake of the windshield will make a difference. It is attached by "stiction", and can be removed and re-attached. I would presume you could cut it around the outer edge as long as you leave the center of the lens in place. I do recall seeing them in different sizes. For a chopped car with a flat windshield I would probably mount it at the top of the glass in the center, out of your direct line of sight.
don't think at top would work--have a flat glass roadster and the top comes out over ths windshield like a sunvisor
Go to a RV center buy the big plastic rear view image thing. Then cut what ever shape you want. You can make one for all your friends.
I read somewhere that a guy bought one of them small convex mirrors that U stick to your outside mirror and layed it flat on the dash and it worked to see the traffic light----anyone ever tried that? I might buy one (they are cheep) if it works I could glue a magnet to it and use it only when I need it ---seems like maybe it would be better at night ---don't know about daytime???
I can see that working, but the downside would be that the sun would also be directed at you as well.
I did quick look/see on EBay ......found 3 of them, from $10 on an old used on to almost $100 for a brand new fulton.....Ive got that kind of mount on mine......I guess all the old ones did... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/new-...tZVintageQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Boy! that thing is wild looking! Thing is,I have a 30 Roadster with 32 dash and nothing on it but gauges and HAMB plaque---don't want to put something on it that might look out of place
i'd just cut a hole in the roof and install a brass rimmed porthole. but i'm insane so don't listen to me.
The magnet base works great!! I have one in my 54 with a finished dash..doesnt move and no scratches. The wedge glass and clamshell style both work well.
