To me those look to be 1/18 scale die casts that were recorded with a stop motion camera and had the animated people added after the fact.

    TF,
Sadly I have no pictures or stories to share but I do have a question. The Peterson in L.A. has had two different Tuckers on display over the years. The first one they had was Maroon. I don't know the number or who the owner was. I was wondering if you know any info about that. BTW I used to belong to an F-100 club and we toured the museum right after they acquired the black Tucker and the number we were told was 180,000 as a purchase price. Good work on this thread. It is amazing!!! If you ever decide to publish as a book or series count me in for a set.
    Regards, Darin

The Petersen has had several Tuckers on display over the years. I don't know which maroon car might have been there. Do you remember what year that was? The Petersen did own Tucker #1007 for a short period in 2002. Tucker #1030 was auctioned on March 17 1996 by the Rick Cole Auction Company for $280,000. Petersen was the buyer. It is not Preston Tucker's personal car.

It would have been around 1995-1996 that the maroon Tucker was on display. In reading the 35 pages of this post I'm afraid it has been made abundantly clear that the black Tucker at the Petersen was never Preston Tucker's personal car.;)(meant as a joke) It is still awesome to see.

  5. I've got 4 photos of this. Neat car! I'll see if anyone else has posted them. I have about 30 pages to go through this thread first!

If you have photos of the car with the Dairy Rich logos on it please post them. I'd love to see them.

That's about the time I took the photos on this page on my website .....

Wish I could track down that security guard and give him a whippin for lying to everyone that day. I'll have to edit the info but wonder what it's worth in today's market.

I suppose technically Preston Tucker was the original owner of ALL the Tuckers.

I went to the Nethercutt collection for the first time when I was about 14. The guide took us through the whole tour, then told us to wander around a bit. I approached him and asked, "Excuse me, but don't you guys have a Tucker here?" He looked at me with a bit of confusion on his face and replied, "Yes, we have it downstairs in storage..." I must have had a fair amount of disappointment on my face because he smiled at me and said, "C'mon." I followed him to a stair case. He said with a smile, "Go on down to see it, and come back up when you're done. K?" I nodded enthusiastically and all but flew down those stairs. I walked right past Bugatti's, Duesenberg's and Delage's right up to this car.

I had been obsessed with the Tucker since I was 10 and this was the first one I saw in person. I walked around it for about 25 minutes in pure awe.. I knew I needed to hurry up or the tour guide was gonna get worried I'd done something wrong... I walked up to the car and placed my hand on the fender... I felt electrified. I probably won't come any closer to a Tucker again...

Tucker #1019 has been sold. No word on the new owner yet. The car has been on display at the San Diego Museum for many years.

Is that the museum that has the 5x5 Tucker engine in display? Is that part of the deal, or is it staying put?

I think the Museum owned the engine so it probably will stay

The new A&E Network Show called storage wars showed Tucker #1030 in the episode called Railroad Roulette. The Tucker shows up at about 26 minutes into the show and it is still not Preston Tucker's Personal Car.

Does anyone know how many 5x5 engines were built? My understanding is the Tin Goose was powered by the 589 when it was used for the debut gala, and that they had yet to devise the reverse gear, so it was driven up on ramps, and had to rely on gravity to back down. Do you know if the Franklin motor was installed in the Goose while it was still used for Tucker demos?

This is a same car that Tom McCahill used in the original road test he did back in 1948. It is painted a 1975 VW color, (I guess the owner wanted a rear engine color). They drive it quite often.

Here are scans of some negatives I recently purchased. These images shows the Tin Goose. I'm not sure when these are taken, but for all I know it could have been on the debut of the car?

I just saw the Tin Goose being driven last weekend. It STILL doesn't have a good reverse, made funny noises.

Those noises are typical of the Cord and/or Y-1 pre-selector transaxle, which the Tin Goose didn't have originally, but now does. (At least it did when I saw it). How great it would be if the current owner installed one of the few 5x5 engines in it with the torque converter drive. If I had a few million sitting around idle I'd do it!

Tom Merola sent this one on the Hemmings site recently. The Nascar Tucker from 1950 driven by his Dad, Joe Merola.

Tucker Photos College Place (Walla Walla), Washington

I have several photos of a Tucker I took during August, 1954 in College Place (Walla Walla), Washington while on a weekend trip from Seattle. The car appeared to have been used in a local congressional campaign. Written on the car on both sides was: “Vote for . . . William Bryan 4th District Congressman.” The 4th district is in southeastern Washington which includes Walla Walla. Tri-Cities and Hanford are 50 miles west of Walla Walla. The license on the car was A195-782 and the license tab year was 1951 indicating that the car was not driven after the congressional campaign. This car was sitting by a repair garage with several cars sitting around. The rear hood and the air cleaner were removed and the window rolled downed. It needed considerable maintenance.

I returned in the fall of 1954 to start College and I don’t recall seeing the Tucker again.

Is there away to find out the serial number, perhaps though the license number? Or is there someone out there may possibly know something about this car during its time between Seattle, Tri-Cities and Walla Walla?

I’ve tried searching the internet for any information on William Bryan, 4th District Congressman, but so far, have not found anything on Bryan. Has anyone heard of William Bryan or the Tucker he used.

    Thanks

I took this photo about 15 or 20 years ago at the antique car show at the Rockvill Civic Center in Rockville, Maryland. I know its not the vintage type photo you're looking for, but its the only one I have. I believe this is one of the three Tuckers from the Tucker Museum in Alexandria, Virginia.

This is a great photo and thanks for posting it. Any photos of the cars help to place them in history and what they looked like at the time. This car is Tucker #1004 and had to have been taken prior to 1990. It was owned by Ray Burton of Fairfax VA. at the time.

I saw #1015 about a month ago at Classic & Exotics in Troy MI as they were pushing it into the spray booth. Hats off to Brian and all the crew there for getting it done in record time. They do beautiful work and really did their homework on their first Tucker. I'm looking forward to seeing photos of the car now that it is done.
