Show Off Your Gasser!!

DAMN! You guys did a nice job on that ole girl. I really like the '59 Corvette tail lights. I had never seen that before the original photo's you posted on your car.

 

You guys did a really nice job on this one. I had never seen the '59 Corvette tail lights on one of these before you posted the "find" pics on this one, I think they look really cool. I've never been the biggest "red paint fan", but this looks just right!

I pulled the motor and attached the TH-400 case. While it was out I painted the firewall. The next pics you can see the painted firewall. Also, if you look at the previous engine plate pics you can see that it crosses the front cover but it also bolts up forward of the cover. The bolts could be very close to the backside of the balancer so I cut the plate in two and sculpted it so it slides down into the cover.Looks much better. Old plate (and painted firewall)

No pics but I built the rear trans mount crossmember and bolted it to the trans mount. The back of the engine is now supported (temporarily, no rear engine plate supports yet) by the rear trans crossmember. I used angle off of the inside of the new frame rails and 1X1 tubing for the crossmember with 1/4 inch late as the mount. I still have to perminently weld the angles on the rails and drill the crossmember ends for a bolt. Then I will bolt on the 4L80 case and put the same crossmember on it and add extra angles farther back on the new frame rails. This way I can bolt in either trans when I need to. The trans crossmember is not as much to support the trans as it is to be more for preventing forward/backward movement of the engine on the plates. The rear engine plate will do most of the engine/trans support. Mark L

Here's our 48 Austin Gasser. Sporting Halibrands all around. It's a Street/Strip gasser, and a blast to drive! I love this little car. I'm glad my Pops let's me race it!

Hi Guys,
We're in Seattle, Wa. and building a '51 Henry- J Gasser with a Crower Injected 496" BBC / TCI Full Manual T-400 & 4500 Stall / 9" Ford with Nodular Strange 456 Detroit Locker center section. Polished 12"x15" ET's rear, and 4.5" x 15" Fenton Gyro's up front. Just finished the car, and seems to run well with the Mech. not EFI Crower Injector. Just had to reduce the ID of the 3" OD tubes down to 2-5/8" ID with thick wall Alum tubing. Still 3" OD. I will ad they're heavy tubes, but this makes it a little less choppy running on the street.
We may file a V shaped slot off the flats down side edge of the spool in the barrel valve to make it come off ideal more smoothly at stop lights. That's all FOLKS!

jimmy1931, did that car come from AZ? From your description and picture it sure looks like a machine that my freind Steve from Sierra Vista ran at the nostalgia drags here a couple of years ago.

Either way, it's a super bitchin' car.
