They want to use my car.

  1. If it's a static shoot, I say go for it. Seems like it'd be pretty fun, and if you can be there on set, you'll be able to keep an eye on everything. Just have them add into your contract that you want a signed group photo of the girls and your car at the end :D

I saw most of this movie, it was brutal. Which car was yours?

Principle cars (ones driven by the actors or stunt team) are always supplied by picture car companies. They have to have at least two visually identical vehicles and usually a few others for interiors or closeups. At the cost of productions they can't shut down for repairs or finicky old cars. Set cars are usually parked or driven into the scenes by team drivers.

Insurance and a day-rate is the minimum you should ask for. But this deal sounds like a porn shoot or a pin-up thing.

I rented my off topic, red Chevelle for the movie "Signs of Life" which was filmed up here in Maine. 1986 or so. The actors did not know how to drive! They trailered the car for all of the driving scenes. Did not pay much, but it was fun...

I also recommend staying with the vehicle as much as possible.

  5. ...So did you end up agreeing to let them use your car?

  6. I lent out my 33 ford for a "bank robbery movie".....They didn't treat it so well....maybe I should have asked more questions....

Yes I did, it turned out to be waiting around for 5 hours while the girls had their makeup and hair done and 15 minutes of photos.
It was interesting just to see all the shit that goes on in the back ground and getting ready. I only had to move the car once.

It was for a new shoe and jeans line coming out for magazine ad's and some kind of banners for Fashion Week in New York when ever that is.
I am to get copies of everything but have not yet.

  9. I'm glad everything worked out well! Post up pics if they will let you.....

  10. My 71 Road Runner was (and about 25 other guys cars) used in THE BOX movie. We were the only ones moving or driving our cars and no one ever touched them other than them changing the license plates to replica period-correct ones. We were also hired as background extras in the movie and had to get to NASA Langley and back every day anyway, so $50 / day for commuting in our old cars was a bonus. James Marsden drove a Corvette (doesn't every NASA engineer?) but I have no idea where they got that car from.

is it possible to go over the car with the company wishing to use it to note the condition of the car before the shoot, and have them pay for anything that happens during the shoot?
i'd do it, but only if i could be with the car at all times.

They took a ton of photos, these are with my shitty little cereal box camera.
I asked if they wanted me to move it back on the grass so it looks better but the photog said that don't matter we will change all the fore and backgrounds anyway ?

i'd bet they photoshop an air force base or something into the background. it's cheaper to do that than rent a real space and fill it with period stuff. in a print ad, nobody usually knows the difference.

I'd rent my car out for a movie, no problem. As long as it was for Pixar!

I have been called twice to use my truck for photo shoots and I declined both offers. One was for a childrens clothing line I had never heard of and the other for Sheplers western wear. In both cases they stated that models may be on, in or around the truck. I decided it wasn't worth the effort.

That's a fake Army guy, so maybe an Army base...

There's a lot of sitting and leaning going on there. I assume you inspected those models closely for rivets and buttons and such?

  21. My '50 Ford was used in "Sweet Dreams" (Patsy Cline movie). I think I got about $100.00 for 5 days of shooting street shots just driving by etc. I got to drive it and got to meet a couple actors and ate good at their catered food tent every day.
If you really look real good and close you can see my car for about 2 seconds, that 1 shot took 6 hours and about 5 takes to film!
Altogether...fun and worth it, but I should have had Jessica Lang sign my dash :D

They finally sent me 3 photos being used for sure in the magazine ad , it's a company from New York coming out with a new jeans and shoe line. They possibly might use more photos in future ads but they ain't sure yet.

The solder dude is real Army, wounded twice in Iraq so far and going back.

Would have made them bigger but I'm to dumb with this computer stuff. You can click on them to make them bigger

Seriously, that is a cool shot. Glad you had a good experience.

They used my truck for a MTV special, got $250 plus docs/insurance if any damages. But it went well, no problems.

It would probably be OK if you accompany the car to the shoot. Once out of your sight, it's just a prop to them. Loaned out my truck for a movie shoot and it was filthy when I got it back.

I have a aquaintance tha has had his cars in a couple of films and some video taping.

Dependig on lighting conditions they may want to spray a dulling agent to cut down on glare and reflections. He allowed them to do this on one of his cars. the said it would wash off, but its kinda like cosmolene it gets everywhere, and was difficult to remove.
