    WOW there are 11 Lanc's in Canada, and there doesn't seem to be MK-2 in the world. Here are the survivors http://www.bombercommandmuseum.ca/lancs.html and only 2 that fly.

    [IMG]

    Here are the specs http://www.bombercommandmuseum.ca/lancavrospecs.html
    with the biggest lift being a 22,000 bomb.

    Well, actually a blimp is a dirigible. A dirigible is defined as a lighter than air craft which is powered and can be steered. The word dirigible is derived from the French word "diriger" which means "to steer". There are three basic types of dirigible; rigid, semi-rigid and non-rigid or limp (blimp). So, the Goodyear blimp is actually a type of dirigible.

    And people wonder why my wife says I am a veritable fountainhead of obscure and useless information.

    These were called Verta-Packs....A experiment that didnt last and gave way to the fully enclosed three tier auto racks we see today

    Please check post 16594 before you dig any deeper, this car has been explained at length by Vintageride. It is not even close to the Packard speedster (LeBaron bodied) owned new Clark Gable.

    Many people don't realize how truely innovative the Vega was. For instance, it was the first American car to utilize compressed rust as body panels.:)

  14. My first thought when seeing this pic was - "Oh, colored porta-johns!" Sorry, couldn't help it.

    Them Vegas, along with Pintos... it's about all they were good for except to suck $$ outta poor folk who couldn't afford a real car :D

    =====================
    In the early-'70's a buddy of mine worked
    in the parts department at the local Chevy
    store and a standing joke was if a customer
    came in and asked for 'tune-up parts' for
    a Vega, he'd turn around and yell into the
    stockroom "Points, plugs, condenser and
    block for a Vega!
    ":eek::D

    I dunno the Vega and Pinto were really a hit with the Pro Stock boy's. I laugh too though and have always called them oil compressors.

    the car is the photo is:

    1) a later model car
    2) not at all "identical to" the '34 LeBaron Roadster in the original subject photo.

    I guess "who cares" is OK once your argument has been shown to be incorrect. It seemed to matter when you were insisting it was a Darrin and that the museum had one exactly like it and would be happy to educate us. :)
