As most of you know, The San Dimas Sheriffs Boosters hold their annual Car Show in Downtown San Dimas in the "Summer"

This is also the Un-Official Anniversary of The Early Ford Store. In the past Friends of the Ford Store would park their cars early in the City parking lot behind the store and host a free BBQ as a Thank You to Bill & Mike for their great service to the hobby.

Lately one of the Downtown business owners who likes to cause trouble over anything (watch any of the City Council meetings and you will see) with the City complained and even called the Sheriffs. This is a City parking lot with no restrictions other than No Parking from 2am to 5am.

The City and the Sheriffs Dept. had no concerns with this, even with the complaints from that S.O.B. so last year Bill & Mike obtained a event permit ! The S.O.B. and one of the Sheriffs Boosters (this is the guy who is asking for donations for a Veterans Memorial just so he can get his name on it) remember that when donating you hard earned $$$. These two S.O.B.'s reported false statements to the City Council regarding not giving the Ford Store a yearly permit.

SO THIS YEAR THEY PROPOSED to the CITY that they be granted all the City Parking lots for their event both north and south sides. This would kill the Sunday business for all the stores, but they don't care, they see Real Hot Rods behind the Ford Store and since they don't know a thing about "Cars" they think that is lost revenue for them. The City is currently reviewing this request.

All they are going to achieve is two empty parking lots, loss of business revenue and none of the H.A.M.B.ers in San Dimas, last year their were about 40 of us their for Bill & Mike.

The entry fee is $25.00 pre-register and $30.00 at the gate, Super high for a lousy one day show, even though Downtown San Dimas is really cool. They want to make it so unless you park in the Alberstons parking lot or in the street (which they are asking for a 30 minute restriction on show day) that you will have to pay them !! Wow Communism in the S.G.V.

LETS SHOW THESES NON-CAR ENTHUSIAST WHATS ITS ALL ABOUT AND NOT GO TO THEIR SHOW !!!

They are already planing to make it hard for The Early Ford Store (some inside info that has been reported) so lets show these Gold Chainer's what real brotherhood is about.

A car show Huh, last year I think a new Vette one best in show.

NO Problems with the Sheriffs Boosters instead I rather just donate $30.00.

    PM me for more info.

    Thanks for your time,

    Scott

Why not gather a group and go to the next city council meeting in force? Leave the pitch forks and torches and attitudes at home though. I think you can make a positive turn here that will help everyone.

Way too much drama with Cities, and Sheriffs, and Veterans, and Communists, and Gold-chainers, and Boosters, oh my...

The Sherrifs fuck with Bill every year! It's bullshit! I guess that means,NO BBQ this year? That sucks....

That's just like charging the people who come to see the car show,in their dailys. The difference is,WE drive our old cars there. It's a FREE SHOW!!!!! That councilman just saw all the old cars behind the Early Ford Store and wanted more revenue.

When my man, Bad Bob puts the ko on an event, it is for sure a bad thing. Chicken shit folks like this are a sad deal, city councill meeting with a well prepared protest sounds right to me. Torches and pitchforks just make it worse, although tar and feathers for the trouble maker sounds like fun. Good luck with this. Buckin Fummer!! ~sololobo~

Not taking side one way or another, BUT don't you think that gathering a bunch of Hot Rods in a parking lot right adjacent to the show kinds of slaps the show organizers in the face and says, "look at us, we can park right here and not have to pay to be part of your show".
If all the guys are doing is having a BBQ for the Ford Store and a Thank You to Bill, why does it have to be on the same day as someone else's event?
Like I say, I'm not taking sides, just pointing out how it might be perceived by others.

It happened in our area Orillia, Ont. Street show run by car club was great. Then the city got involved booted out the car club ran the show then raped the car owners for entry fee and fucked the show. It never fails.

It's no different than driving to any show and parking outside. It's not a closed parking lot. It's open to anybody. It's been going on for many years, and has never been an issue before. The people who come to the show, don't come around back to see the cars in back. I bet, most don't even know they're there. Doesn't take away from the show at all. If we parked on a side street, where the people who go to the show could see the cars,it would be different.
Let me remind you guys that,Bill had a permit to have the BBQ...AND THEY APPROVED IT!!!

Like I said Bob, I wasn't taking sides, merely pointing out how it could be perceived by others. Obviously SOMEONE saw the cars there, or it wouldn't be an issue. Sounds like it's no longer an Open parking lot - seems to me that there needs to be a presence at the next City Council meeting to find out why they are screwing with the BBQ if no one knows the cars are back there. If it's just one guy with a hard on, and no one has gone and given the opposing view, the rest of the council folks may not realize what is really happening. Instead of just figuring on boycotting it, get a bunch of people together and make your voice heard, and kick the A Hole back to the dark ages!

    Sad deal ... :(

My wife and I always enjoy going to San Dimas when we are in the LA area.
The Early Ford store is like a step back in time and good folks to deal with. I always end up finding and buying a
Deuce goodie or two every trip.

The Italian resturant NEXT to the Early Ford Store is also excellent :D
The food is super and the service superb :)
We always sit out on the sidewalk and enjoy the area and usually the cars.
We usually are in San Dimas for the LA Roadster event or the America's Most Beutiful Roadster show ...
    SO
... there usually is a steady stream of neat cars coming and going to the Early Ford store.

I will not go to this event ...
But I will go there next time I am in LA ...

Hey Bad Bob, don't let the honchos know about a BBQ, they'd probably cancel it out there because of some sort of smoking ban, or not having some B/S food permit

But do let Bill know when you see him, that are a whole lot of folks that do support him, and wish him well.

..Lil secret amongst us. The back lot is where its at! But who says that you can drive your ride to the show. Some of us drive our cars.
Just take a look at my lil town...to the untrained eye it looks like a classic car show. Truth..nope those are daily drivers.

Council is aware and supportive, this post was not a bash to the City Council but a bash at the show organizers and their greed.

But lets not forget the political stand point, some people always will support a "City Event" and that's what the organizers and the two specific S.O.B.'s are hoping for.
