    Lil' Deuce Coupe...

  8. Grabowski's bucket would have to rate pretty highly on my list.

  9. define hot rod.

ala kart... not a hot rod.

i'd say it would be a battle between the Milner coupe and the ZZ Top coupe

Ala Kart was a hot rod last time i saw it!

  12. Ala Kart gets my vote.... Show rod ,hot rod who cares 1000s of youngsters were exposed to hot rods in the early 60s only because AMT sold thousands of Ala Kart model car kits to us kids!!

  17. The california kid was pretty influential as well as the numerous others that have been mentioned.

I might ad that while the milner Coupe was a total piece of excrement it was and or is very influential. A lot of people especially young and impressionable people have romanticized the world of hot rodding because of it. Some of them actually fall in with us and get influenced, in a good way, to lean toward the dark side of rodding, the way it was for most of us back in our youth.

I would think it would be largerly due to your age.

I think the Ala Kart was influential to those who were teenagers during the 60's. Milner's coupe in the early 70's. The California Kid in the middle to late 70's and ZZ Top's Eliminator in the 80's.

They were all great sources of hopes and dreams during their time.

My favorite? Must you ask? lol

    Cheers!

Two Lane Blacktop 55 chevy gets my vote:D

  20. No it was a custom. Some may argue that it bordered on hot rod or bordered on custom.

the Ala Kart brings Blacky Geigian's (please forgive the mispelling of Blacky's last name) roadster to mind. I'm not sure why at this point, it may have belonged to Blacky's buddy of something, but in a thread like this Blacky's roadster is well worthy of mention.

I know to some of you Blacky's roadster is pretty obscure but it was a pretty slick little toodle around car.

This is a tough one.I agree with every one that that has been mentioned, but the operative word here is "famous".With that said...I have to say Milners Coupe is most famous to the gereral public.Just my opinion.

Henry Ford's ARROW it set a Land Speed Record (on a frozen lake) and allowed him to raise the funds to build The Ford Motor Company.

Ala Kart. McMullen's car, ZZ Tops car, California Kid, if anyone has mentioned that, are all modern era cars, IMO. Ala Kart was at the beginning of the real growth of the industry. I think it's the benchmark.
Milner's coupe? I think American Graffitti almost single handedly revitalized hot rodding in general after the eco nazis almost killed it back in the '70's, telling the same lies then as they are now a out our energy use. But is it a defining CAR? No way. There's a difference between, "That was a cool, great movie", and this is a defining car.
