So this is my 54 210 that i picked up today. It was originally shoreline beige/bermuda green. Still has the 235 and the 3 on the tree. Gotta re-wire the lights, and get a sending unit. And then replace the trunk floor. Eventually I would like to chop it, 4 in the front and 5 in the back. I found 3 inch blocks for the rear, and i am going to take a coil and a half out of the front. Other than that, i can not wait to get it on the road. and someone put the patch panel in, but did a horrible job with the filler, so that needs to be fixed. I plan to shave the molding holes. Maybe french the tail lights. And for sure wanna find a set of Cadillac Sombrero hubcaps! But all of this in due time. I don't wanna jump in too much, without being able to still enjoy it on the weekends....Thanks guys! - Mike
54/53 chevys are great cars, hope to have my 53 back from the body man by July. I took out the 235 six and dropped in a 406 s/b with a 700r4 for cruising. Have fun, enjoy.
That sounds like it will be FUN to cruise!!!! Someday i may decide to throw in a v8. But until then, i have been looking at the offy 2x1 intake, and fenton split headers for the 235. Just something to help it breath a little better. This is my first venture into anything carbureted, so i am taking it slow...lol On another note. Anyone know what the original carb on the 235 is? I would like to rebuild it for the time being, and then find a matching one for the 2x1 intake. Any help here would be awesome. Thanks!
your stock carb will most likely be a Rochester B, but could be a carter YF, post a pic and me or some one else could tell ya, they look pretty different. Oh and not to sound like a hater, but 5" out of that roof and your gonna have a mail slot for windows. if thats what you into, I'm not knocking ya, just saying these cars over chop very easy... if you have any specific questions about rear end swaps and interchange feel free to shoot me a pm.
and a two pot and a set of fentons is the most bang for your buck you can get, makes a good bit of difference, ntm it sounds sweeet!
thanks hotdamn!! i was just throwin around numbers in my head. i guess you are right about the chop. I guess I will have to do some more research before i got cutting...lol. I will snap a pick of the carb this weekend, and get it on here. Thanks for the info dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going the other way on my 53, lifting it a couple of inches. The rear has 31 inch tires on it. Good luck
Did someone do some work on your dash, radio and gauges? Those look awesome. Keep that stuff as original as possible. In the event you don't want any of it, let me know. I may. Nice car to start with. Keep us posted.
Dead End - the guy I bought it from had all intentions of dropping an LT1 in the car. He found another all set up for it, so he just got this one running and sold it to me. He bought it from someone in Oregon. So maybe they cleaned the gauges up. Everything works but the radio. Thanks for the kind words guys. I will get more pics up as I go along! - Mike

I bought a non-working radio. I plan to do something to have it control my ipod volume thru amp and speakers. I want the old look with new sound. There are some radio build threads on here that I plan to put to work. Probably next winter. Big plans in my head. Hopefully actually get them done.
I like your car. Go at it as fast as you can. Drug along too long on mine and now my health is failing and probably won't get to finish mine. Get it done and enjoy it while you can.
not a problem bro! I took a physical 2" out but due to the angle of A pillars it dropped it 2 3/4" and the back is dropped till it looked right. but waaay before that make you a set of 4" blocks and take one coil out the front coupled with a nice set of bias plys and you will be on your way STANCE IS EVERYTHING!
Looks real nice. I would get the bumpers re done though. Other than that it looks pretty solid. You should post up more pics.
Ok so I am an idiot and read the color number wrong. It was originally India ivory/biscayne blue. Which I think it may return to someday. I will get more pictures up today. Hotdamn - so I should go with 4 inch blocks for the rear? And how much of a drop does 1 coil make? One more thing. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the headlights and tail lights they can post?
Yes I have a manual with it, ill take a pic when I get back from work today and load it if nobody has posted one by then.
hey bro, your springs are 1 7/8" wide and any block I have ever found for that width for some reason comes in 1 1/2" increments? I welded 2 of them together to make a 3" block as stacking blocks is some sketchy business... Personally I would make a set of 4" blocks and buy some ubolts from a local bolts shop or 4x4 place. Just take you a piece of 2x4 thick wall (.188) tubing, cut it in half length wise and narrow it to 1 7/8" wide and cut them at 3 5/8", then plate the top and bottom with 3/16" flatstock and drill a 1/2" or 5/8" (i cant remember) locator hole centered on both sides then take a 1/2" bolt and cut it down and weld it into on of your plates through the back side so as to use it for a locator pin ( and obviously you will want to do this before you weld your end caps on...) does that make sense? I feel like I just made that sound waaaay more difficult than need be... oh and 1 coil should put you at around 2" give or take, depends on how worn out your springs are. and just in case you didn't know this, use a cut off wheel to cut your springs, NEVER a torch, the heat will murder your springs... you can use a sawzall but I have found a electric grinder with a cut off wheel to be the most efficient. would look nice, you wont be low low by any means but it will look good,
awesome info!! thank you again!! i will have to find some tubing, and make those blocks. the springs up front seem to pretty good. I have heard never to use a torch on springs before, but thanks for the reminder. Chevy54 - if you can get me a picture of that diagram I will be forever grateful! I was looking around today, and i just stopped and went....oh ****, i am lost...lol. I did take a few more pics today..... Here are some closer pictures of the gauges for you guys. And this is the Carb. It says rochester on the back of it. But what rochester is it? thanks guys!!!
I took three of the page so you could hopefully read them...I couldnt get enough detail with just one picture..good luck!
Chevy54 - those pictures came out awesome. thank you a million times! Hotdamn - thanks. I will have to find a companion for it. Are they common?
I posted those pics in the wrong thread im sorry i did not mean to hijack yours! No more coffee im goin out in the garage.
