feel free to add to this list. Maybe more of a rant.

1.It seems like everyone thinks they got to slam the doors violently hard in my 56 wagon or 63 bel air..(It's not a damn 77 grand prix door). I guess Im going to have to sound like an anal sob and say please don't slam the doors from now on.

    2. They assume they get under 10mpg.

    3. they always break down

  2. points are no good
    you can't find parts

I've heard people say they are unsafe and like you said they always break down.

  4. yes everyone does try to slam the doors!

my car has gate pins, doesnt even have door latches and i get 'WHAM' and the door bounces back open.

not worth anything since its not "stock"

Your shouldn't have put a SBC with air conditioning in it....

  6. Door slamming my major big pieve. Although if you don't close the door solidly on my willys pickup it won't latch. Its not a slam it is firm and keep pulling it so it doesn't bounce.

You can't drive 'em or modified engines are not reliable. Or carbs and points don't get as good of fuel mileage as EFI and electronic.

You can't drive a magneto on the street.

Good goody goodness I could go on all day here.

Whenever anyone goes to 'slam' my F100 doors, I step up and say, "Like this." I then close the door with 2 fingers, real softly: 'click, click.' They are aghast!
"My new Chivvy don't close that easy!" I answer, "You should trade it in on a '55 F100."
    Pisses 'em off...

Slamming of doors is an issue of mine. They assume the doors are difficult to close. Now mind you, my Impala looks like ass but it's still my ONLY car so yea, I use the "don't slam my doors" a lot.

Bad mpg is a usual too. Of course I can't dispute it at the moment because of my slightly bored 350 with mild cam and tires that are 175/70r14. I'm probably doing 12 miles to the gallon if I'm lucky.

Break downs are next thing. Once again, I can't dispute that at the moment because I've only owned the Impala since August and have slowly been dealing with shaking the bugs out (including blowing the 305 that was in it and dropping it's current engine in).

Oh well, I don't care. I'll keep enjoying all my old junk, and I certainly won't try to convince non-car people to buy them as dailys! :D

I’m 64 and live in an apartment on a fixed income just recently
Had to remove my 52 willys wagon from my assigned parking spot
Because the young manager complained it is old and junkie
Old ? yes Junkie ?? 302 C4 Ford 9 inch goes like hell
So it now costs money to store it as I don’t drive it very much
Bottom line it’s not a new Honda Toyota BMW or anything
    She approves of

Hey Fang, you should put a complaint on her to someone. As long as the car is registered and insured they shouldn't be able to do shit with it. I know a number of people complained at the HOA meetings about my car where I lived and they got that answer "As long as it's registered and insured and drivable there's nothing we can do".

not so much a misconception about cars , but a misconception about me... they think because I'm in an old car I want to talk to them.

How about when someone would stop me in my '63 shortbed c10 and they'd say, "I have a truck just like that! Its a '67 3/4 ton, but mine's a long bed."

    ???

The slamming of the hood pisses me off. Especially when they dont line up great or the hinges dont work great. This is ussually by uninvited people thinking all old cars are for sale or something, or cause there old they know what there doing.

Oh and door slamming gets me too.

Every time someone gets in I say "Please don't slam the door". Megan is about the only one I don't say it to. I have a couple of girlfriends that I open the passenger door for them, and then close the door for them because they still can't figure out how little it takes to close the door so it's just easier if I do it for them.

Slamming doors, classic or daily driver, is a pet peeve of mine. Seems like I'm deleveoping more pet peeves as I'm getting older.:D

Im with you, i dont have time to talk to everyone, much less want to. Like an old car makes you friendly. Cars are like im approachable signs.

  27. you said it!!!!

my grandfather just bought a restored 53 stubaker pickup, sweet little truck, it wasparked at a show with the hood up, came back and the hood was done but not closed....

and it WOULD NOT CLOST come some dumbass tried to close it without pulling the little latch forward like your supposed to and bend the shit out of it. the hood has never shut right ever since.

  28. haha i agree, they all want to stop you at the gas station and talk about the one their buddy has,its a 68 camaro pro street with 3000 horsepower and does the quarter in 2 seconds and he drives it daily.

or this guy at the local coffee shop, hes got a lovely 87 442,and man he thinks its the best thing ever. any car that drives by with pipes is cool to him and wants to talk about it.
