It's been a pretty long and sleepless month. I have been in the process of buying a house. It has been a bumpy ride, and in the end it does not look like it is going to happen. I had sold a bunch of stuff, bought some stuff for the house, supposed to sign for it Wednesday. But it is just not meant to be, and that is OK, but man it has drained me. Today is my only day off work this week, and they called for rain. Woke up to blue sky so jumped in the 33 pickup for a little jaunt down my favorite road around here. Man, I wish you guys could here that cammy lil 34 mill hummin away.

Then it hit me, 1 year ago today I bought this ol pickup. Stopped by my favorite spot for a couple pics, drank a cool soda in the *****in warm sun, and realized maybe life aint so bad :D

    Chris,
Those are great pictures. I've always loved your '33. Sometimes you need a simple ride like that to relax and clear your mind. You've got a good road and a great little truck to do just that in.

I'm sorry to hear about the house deal. It sometimes seems like the harder you work towards something in life and the more you want it, the less it works out the way you think that you want it to in the end. The flip side is that there is someting even better for you on the horizon...guaranteed. In the meantime, enjoy the things that you already have (family, great gal and some fun toys) and re-focus on a better house opportunity in the future. Keep your chin up and your throttle down!!

Nice truck Chris, clean and simple. And your approach to life seems to be the same, good for you! More people should come to the same point in life's road but as the Pennsylvania Dutch say "too soon we grow old, too late we grow smart". Peace and love, brother.

Awesome pics Chris! I love your truck, I did the same thing when I bought my first house and the deal almost didn't go through after trying with two banks to finance (I have excellent credit too!). Sign of the times I guess. As was said before though, we just need to enjoy what we have and keep on truckin'. :D

Man, and if you gotta find a road to get your head together on, your gonna find it in Washington! I sure miss my yearly couple month long hot rod/working trips up there... Especially when it's like 200 degrees here! I used to leave Phoenix on July 1 and head the Plymouth north and call on R.V. parks untill about september 1st... such a neat place to be!
Sorry to here about your housing woahs. It a process that ****s and is draining no matter how you do it. There always seems to be one small person in every mortgauge group that seems to think it's his job to block you at all costs... I would suggest identifying him early next time and letting him know early on you don't mind kicking him in the nuts... But perhaps that might be a bit violent!

I know the feeling Chris...all too well as Im working toward a house myself...I keep saying "life isnt so bad" but man it can get overwhelming...I need to get something on the road so I can find a deserted road.

  13. Damn, I was really looking forward to partying with all thee Emperors "junior-high style" at the house warming party, but look at the bright side you wont have anymore sleepless night worrying about carpet knifes, BB guns, and top shelfed bathrooms.:D

  14. Hey Chris,

Too bad about the house, I am sure another will come along. But you do have the coolest 33 pickup in the world and I am sure it sounds bad***. I have a house but all my cars are in pieces and I am stuck inside renovating a bathroom and missing the Monroe Swap .

    Hmmm who is worse off?

Chris, keep your frown....upside down! I am sure there are more house to buy over there. Besides a house can quickly drain all your "car money "away.

    Chris,
Sorry to hear about the house deal. Everytime you post pictures of Rutter Parkway, it makes me glad that's my daily commute.

These are the first pictures I've seen of your truck, Chris, since you dropped it and changed the wheels, it looks freaking awesome!!!

It's amazing how a scenic drive in a *****in old car can put things into perspective.

I have been pretty down and out recently too. My back is messed up, and I go for surgery next Friday. At times I feel worthless as a father and a husband because I can't get around well. I can't even get my 2 month old daughter out of the car without severe pain. I find taking long backroad drives in my 30 coupe really help recenter my head. All the bad that I'm going through is better left in the rearview mirror.
Thanks for sharing your pics, hope your situation gets better soon. I'm just thankful for the things I do have in life.

Hey Chris, its amazing how zen a drive in your car / truck feels when you're having a bad day. I know exactly what you mean and I can totally relate.

BTW- Im glad my home purchase didnt go thru at the time, and I think you will be too.

Sometimes **** happens for a good reason. Looks like you weren't supposed to have that house but it sounds like you've got a good place to live and play in your shop.
I left the Pacific NW in 1980 [The Dalles, Oregon area] to live in the flat midwest and I regret it every day except for one fact....there's always been plenty of work here when I damn near starved living up there in the NW in late 70s, early 80s. I'm still scheming on a way to "come home"...maybe after my 34 coupe is built.
    Great pickup!
