I wonder what that front end would look like with a Merc Bumper... may not be bad if the bumper was on. Awesome starting point though, I personally would do a 50 window if you chop it. Chris did a 51 a year or so ago that came out AWSOME!!!

The body mods (chopped top, 50 Merc grille surround & rear window, custom tail light treatment) are complete. Body work is in process. Should be in primer this month.

Really looks good! What are you gonna do with the old front end? It would make a cool Wall hanger! I kinda liked it,but it screamed 60's...

I gave the quad headlight bezels to Ether. S****ped the rest because of all the bondo and steel rod used to make the headlight openings.

You are right, it would have made a cool wall hanger!

The 49 dash looks better than the 51, here's my 51 with the 49 dash.

I usually don't bag on anyone's car, but that square steering wheel looks way outta place in front of that round dash...

Nice score! I agree with you. Lose the quads. They don't look right for that car. Keep us posted.

More pix of the Merc in primer with doors, hood, and deck lid installed. This primer coat was applied after lots of blocking and sanding the first primer coat. Looking closer to a Merc right now.

Got to give credit, where credit is due. UnionVilleHaunt (Chris) did the chop, body mods, primer, and blocking/sanding of the primer.

SlddnMatt did the ch***is mods. I only dis***embled the ch***is, media blasted, powder coated, installed the SS brake lines, master cylinder, and re***embly.

My work will really start when the Merc is transported down to Savannah, GA for me to install the motor/trans, wiring, etc. Then the fun begins and really start to look like a Custom.

Still thinking about color. Some of the choices are some shade of blue, maybe a green like the color that Ford is using on the late model Bullitt Mustangs, or the burnt orange from GM.

Then, of course, their is the "sinister look of BLACK on a Merc" thought.

Blue exterior with a white interior is high on the list of color combinations.
