Hi, my 32 frame numbers are visible but I don't have****le with it. I don't have the original owner's info anymore, but there is a possibility that there maybe a****le out there with my frame numbers as reference. I am in Wisconsin and wonder what will happen when I try to apply for a new****le with my frame numbers. Any info appreciated.
If those numbers come up in the Wisco system you better buy a lottery ticket ASAP. The odds are way long
If you apply for a****le and your frame has the numbers I would think that the person who bought a****le would have a lot of explaining to do. Charlie Stephens
The guy thought the frame was to pitted, but it actually was fine and nice and straight. He sold the orig frame to get an prefabbed aftermarket. He kept the 5 window body so not sure about the numbers on the****le. I would suspect if he does have the****le he has those frame numbers in it. I figure I will try to apply with the frame numbers. All the DMV can do is say no right? If the do say no then I can prove it with the actual numbers showing... What do you guys think?
Ford stamped numbers on Ford frame=legit serial number. Same number stamped by owner is invalid and probably a felony...that car can only get a legitimate number if stamped by state. Totally bogus numbers seem to be widely in use, but I don't see how one could stand scrutiny. With that frame, you own the actual car. He has parts.
Yep, I about*****ped myself when I bought a pair of fubar'd '32 frame rails cheap and found there was a gennie serial number on them!! Okay, maybe not*****ped myself but I was pretty excited.
Just a quick comment. It happened to me and the DMV told me the numbers are in use and I could not use them. I ended up having a new number stamped by the Highway Patrol. Good Luck.
someone told me the first 2 digits for a 32 frame are 18. My numbers are very clear and they start with AB***XXXXX. I remember a while ago I had looked the number up, or at least what the digits meant and if I am remembering that it was a 4 cylinder model. Is that right?
only the v-8 had 18 at the first of the serial number. AB is a 4 cylinder vin # BB is a 1.5 ton truck -danny
Well, the first thing that will come to mind is that the frame numbers will need to be inspected. Most states want to inspect a complete, running vehicle. Maybe with an explanation of where these numbers sit on the frame that you can have this done before building the car. Most states would not issue a****le without the car being completed. Second, I would bet that the minute this comes up on the system, someone will have a problem. Do you have a bill of sale for the frame? My thought is the guy is a******** for selling his serial numbers. But if I'm******** and someone asks me about the frame (and the serial numbers), I'd say I was restoring the car, and I had the frame outside. Someone stole my frame so I built a hot rod. Now the police come looking at you. Now if you got a bill of sale with the frame, he sold you a car (in my eyes anyways).
The 4 cylinder also used just B some time after sixty thousand units. Post if you need me to look up the exact cut off. Charlie Stephens
if, the previous owner has a Wisconsin****le with your frame numbers and you apply for a Wisconsin****le using the frame numbers, you MAY start a series of events for yourself and the previous owner that can cause a lot of headaches for all involved. You may be subject to a "bonded****le" situation. Regardless of the various answers that, you will receive on the HAMB, your real answers are in the Wisconsin State Statutes, specifically ss342.12. Wisconsin State statutes section 341 and 342 explain vehicle****le and registration. Curt R
