We went to the [R,R] this year.had good time. It's about the ride, drove the 140 mi. some rain and then it cleared. There were some cool cars sorry not to see them pictured on the hamb. I guess the weird stuff is just shock value! This is still free country so I support them all even if its not my cup of tea. For my friends we just like nice old hot rod.

Last yrs show had very few turds compared to yrs past! And there were tons of very nice traditional cars last yr!!! This yr , with the chance of rain, they stayed home! I guess getting there cars wet is a no no! Not sure how they wash there cars! Lol
As far as the turds go, I cringe every time one rolls I'n! There was a lot of very nice cars there this yr as well...Keith was pointing out some of the roaches I'n the mix! It's a great time! This threads not depicting the show for what it's really about! If ya don't wanna come have fun at our show cause there's 30 turds outta 250-300 plus cars, then by all means don't! There's plenty of Nsra events for ya! Btw, it didn't even sprinkle Saturday!

Not a rat rod or NSRA fan, so I prob won't go to either, but The RR was supposed to be a traditional show, you keep out the street rods why not the rats?? Your show do as you plaesae but starting to soud like it's about money more than anything. Just like most other events any more. I hate it I missed it as the weather forecast was the other reason I did not go, but to pay $25 bucks to see in my opinion about 40-50% rats and drive 3 1/2 hrs one way, $3.75 gallon gas I'm going to be a bit more choosy on shows. Man I do like to hang out and see friend don't get me wrong, but the cars are also part of it and if keep out a billet covered whatever, keep out the rats as well, just my opinion.

Rusty, none of my comment was directed at you personally! The rat rod debate is at every traditional show! Ask the czars or most any other club that puts on these type of shows! You can't just post "NO RAT RODS" on your shows web page, it's not that easy! Trying to define what that means to people is next to impossible! Older guys who don't follow trad shows think there's is a rat cause it hasn't been painted yet! Others think if there is some rust on it, it's a rat....it's not as easy as ya think!
It's sad u think our show is all about the money rusty! It's obvious u didn't get it when you were here before! It's all about the fun! I don't like the fucking rat scene anymore then you do, but I walk past, take pics of the nice cars, drink some beer and have fun with friends! Sorry you don't get that!

I was at the show and we had a great time...... I drove my 63 ranchero and enjoyed seeing some old freinds and meeting some new ones.... looking at the cars that I wanted to and there were some great cars .... if it was a piece of shit we walked by it..... we drank alot of beer and listened to some GREAT music and ate some good food...... and we got to see BREEDER play the drums with the rumble Jets........ I will go back again next year without a doubt..........

Don't get me wrong either I get it, I really did miss chatting with you and other friends fromt out of sate etc. But I get a little offened when I nicely built street rod gets turned away, but a POS rat rod gets in. Kind of like the HAMB drags I wish we could go back a few years and keep everthing like it was in the begining, smaller, close friends, cool cars etc, but then all the posers and wanna be's start showing up and the fun just seems to go away. I guess I'm just in a pissy mood , maybe I'm just upset I did not make it up, who knows?

We decided on Saturday morning to jump in the '49 and cruise up there. Perfect day for a drive, and the flathead purred along flawlessly while getting 19.5 mpgs! I took some pics also...

IMO There used to be a fine line between Patina, unfinished, and Rat Rod...
And you recognized immediately what it was, and it always was built to be SAFE.....I have always liked those, and still do....
However, many of these Rats today are no more than a bunch of crap slapped together for the shock and awe look....no semblance of nice lines, or a firm plan in place....and most could not be driven in bad weather, or rain, with there footplates instead of floors, no windows, tops, and so on.....
A pity, but each to his own I guess.....
    Cheers,

fuck the welded bolt........look at the fucking spring spacer thingy..... I'm glad I dont live near this asshole .

  12. I think it'd be fairly easy. Simply show some examples of what the popular consensus considers a "rat rod". That "truck" with the bolt for a shock mount would be a perfect example.

The Kropdusters did a great job putting on this show... The amount of work that went into the planning, preperation, organizng volenteers, getting the artwork, {great job Jeff Norwell} getting all the shirts and posters ect. done, getting varous food vendors. setting up pre-registration and on site registration.. The mini bike drags.... [ yes some people even bitched about that... they didn't like a class or this guys bike....] lining up the great bands.... There was a lot of monetary expense inccured for this show also.... Doing something like this is work for these people... They worked most of the day and evening making sure everything went smoothly for all of the participants.. So my suggestion to everyone who is bitching about the cars that where let in and most of you where not there is lets see you plan and put on a better show.... then you can let in who you want...... better yet why don't you volenteer to help out at next years rust revival show and try to make it better......

FYI I did help out and volenteer etc for the first 2, I was even at the meeting/ get together to get this whole thing started. I made trophies, etc. Can't afford to shell out my time and cash every year. I'm not even a Kropduster, just a friend, that is why I feel my opinion should count for something. Aslo Breeder, it looks like the show turned out well especilly with the weather forecast. I really did not mean to sound like I'm in a pissing match, but just wanted my opinion heard. I also feel similarly to the HAMB drags until last year, Ryan made some changes and turned it back around and made it better, maybe that should be something to look into next year for the RR, just saying. Never been to a pile up so I cannot comment there, I'm always afraid my car will not be let in, too long of a drive to be turned away. Rusty.

    Like I said in my earlier post, when the word the coverage get posted then I will applaud it. From that last crop of photographs it's obvious that was far more than just a rat rods there. Events coverage like this makes me pissed off the I'm stuck in England. I mean, it would have been worth the price of admission to see this alone;

The thing about the Rust Revival is its more about the people than the cars, its a awesome party with great food and music. There were plenty of really nice cars there and some" WTF is that" stuff too. I still had a great time and was glad to see alot old friends.

SOLD !!!! This baby is beautiful, I would just lose the wheels..........

  24. It was a super show! I heard a few questions about "billett" and wheel options not fitting in with the theme, but they were allowed in the show, even a couple '65 and older cars. I had a great time, we were parked by some not so pretty cars. Didn't bother us. we had a couple beers, good food, nice weather, and great conversation with some super people. I will be going back again. I looked at what I wanted to see, and passed other cars over. It is more about the people and the music, the cars are a bonus in my opinion. Todd anad the Kropdusters, along with everyone else that gave up their time made it a great show. we had not complaints. Thanks Todd.:D

Glenn, someone told me you were there and it seemd everytime I turned around I was talking to old friends I met over the last 4 RR. Next year for sure. I will drive the Rivi up so that I can haul the grand daughter. I had to settle for driving the Jeep this year so I could spoil the 2 girls in my like. (Julie and the grand daughter) I was also on call over the weekend. I lucked out and didn't get paged out.
