This is the history on this one, Car was built in 1968/69 by Buddy Ballard in Billings Montana. It was honduras maroon with black interior. The frame and entire underside or the car was painted white. It had a Studebaker V8 motor and chrome 39 Trans, chrome banjo rear, and fully chromed old drop axle front with spinner caps and W/W tires. He drove it to many shows for many years and then it went thru 3 diff. owners in Idaho Falls Id. I bought it from a guy named Laddy Shaw at the Pomona swap meet in early 1986. Still own it.

I have been fortunate enough to have driven to several events with "hotrodfreak" and here are a couple of pictures at Skippers awesome bar-b-q a few years ago. A few of us (Royal Shifters) stopped off for a couple of group shots the same day.

Paul Hobby's, a few years back. Very cool car - bullet holes 'n all.

  19. LOL. I'm helping a buddy make a decision on a chop (or not). Trying to do something a little different. As luck would have it we saw a 5 window at a show today that had me scratching my head for a minute. Then the owner showed up and cleared things up. It was chopped 1 1/4" and the rear glass left alone. It looked perfect. I'm just a bit tired of cookie cutter cars (same chop, same colors, same wheels, etc)

I've had my '32 5w for over 37 years and I'm still agonizing over whether to chop it or not. I've looked at a couple of hundred both chopped and unchopped. If you decide to NOT chop it that is always safe and as the pictures here show they are bitchin when left alone. However, being hot rodders, leaving something alone is akin to being a restorer so this is what my research has concluded.
    1. Fendered car, no chop or 2" (could do the 1/2" more in front deal as it adds a special touch to any chopped '32.

    2. Fenderless car, 3 1/2"-4" to get that agressive look. Again with 1/2" more out of the front.

Using this as a guide it's no wonder Grocho had to scratch his head to decide if it had been copped or not. Henry could have just as well done this for us but I'm thinking he had been building Model A's for so long he just couldn't make that final change and save us from chopping all of those '32's.

I like LOOKING AT chopped Deuces :D

I just do not want to own one. I am 6 foot 2 inches tall and a chopped 32 just is not in the cards. My 32 3W ... is almost to low in the roof and it is stock.

Model A's need a little chop. A guy I know chopped his Model A coupe so that the side glass was the same as a stock, original 32 5W coupe. It really helped the " look ".
