Well I jumped on this new project months ago, I found it on craigslist and might aswell gotten it for free. It is uglier then sin and needs a hell of alot attention but runs and drives and the lady paid for the registration. Im not too sure of what direction i am going with this built. I need to park my daily f250 v10 because gas is rediculous so the 60 will be my daily/parts getter. Well I hope you guys somewhat like it. Let me know what you think and feel about it and dont hesitate to post inspirational pics

Hey thanks 53olds. I just blasted the intake and everything up top on the motor. I just need to clean up the rest of the motor and im having a hard time deciding on the color.for the motor. I was thinking black its easy and hides all the dirt.

Stick the rear axle on top of the springs and flip the rear hangers.

No, not ALL. Get some 'cast iron', or dark gray to contrast the cast stuff with the sheet metal. My son used "cast iron" in a spray can (Kragen, O'Reilly, or Checker) on his 390 valve covers & water pump, black block & heads...The exhaust manifolds got sandblasted and are a darker gray, that engine looks brand new!

Just a little bit of detail works wonders. That is potentially a real sharp truck, by the way.
Just get the stance lower, and sand and paint everything. Body looks basically straight...

i painted mine with ford blue and it turned out okay.

i didnt want the typ. Y-block red.

Yeah this is more of a budget build since all of my money is going into my 56 fairlane with the y block. I want to buy all the speed and dress up parts for this truck but just dont have the extra funds at the moment. If you guys can, post some pics of y blocks in here. Thelat would be great.

I think gold intake and valve covers with a black engine would look good in my opinion.

That sounds good but im not sure if I want to do that or stay with the cast look. Do I need to primer any of this first? If so what prand? If I do the cast look what brand of srpay paint do I use? Or do I spray a type of clear coat over the bare metal?

Anymore ideas on painting the motor and all the motor parts? I would reallly like to do painting this week. I am still wondering if i should pull the motor and trans so that i can clean and paint everything.

Today i have been taking apart alittle more so that i can clean and get everything ready for the paint and gaskets. I will post more pics later today.

I am also thinking about taking the single exhaust off and either going with factory cast iron dual exhaust or the tube style headers. Qhat do you guys think? If I stay with the stock style manifolds so I need the heat risers? If I go with tube headers do I go with shorties or long style headers?

I just got the drivers side exhaust manifold and the crossover manifold off. Im having a hard time with the drivers side. The last exhaust bolt is hard to get to, its the one in the rear where the ****** dipstick tube is. Well here are a few pics.

This is how it looks right now, its pretty dirty,\.

You cant see it very well but behind the coil thats sitting on the valley pain there is the road draft tube. It was cut and pinched shut. The only ventilation for the block was the rubber thing coming out of the p***enger valve cover into the air cleaner. Also on the heat riser thats on the exhaust manifold in this pic, how far is it supposed to open/. It doesnt open very much.
