'51 barn (shed) find. Parked it next to my house on a saturday afternoon until I could clear out a spot in my shop. Monday morning, the city permits enforcer hung a tag on it and told my wife we had 10 days to move it or be fined!!! Said the neighbors had complained.

  3. get classic car insurance on her, insure it for $3,000.00, it should only cost $30.00 yr., then register it......put the sticker in the windshield, the tags on the front and back and park so your neighbors can see her.........BYW..thats what I have to do because of my zoning laws where I live...they can't touch me because their registered and insured....

The main complaint came from the guy next door. He has two late '60s muscle cars and an early '60s race car. (drag racer)...He rebuilt them all in his driveway a couple of years before we moved in according to some of the other neighbors.(the ones who didn't complain) If it had been a 'vette, he probably would have cleaned my shop out for me.

here is my project, not much now but one day! All it takes is a little money, so keep bringing the side jobs. 4 1/2 in. chop in front 5 in rear now just waiting for my patch panels, and new floor. I see fatman fab is coming out with a new rolling frame for around 7 grand so maybe?

6" front, not 100% sure about the rear just kept cutting til it looked good. I'd say around 9" glad you like it!

Nice Chop, dkcollard! Not overdone like a lot of them are. I like the rear side window radius too. It takes a lot more effort to do it right than to just whack it too much and weld it back on, but I think it's worth it. Good job so far.

this is what I started with..a car I found in Colorado that had been stored for 28 yrs. and the rats and wasps had got into it. The body was pretty nice except for rust in the usual places .

  25. I'm in.. I think. These two photos were taken at the JalopyShowdown (a Great Show!) this past weekend. They don't show the car real well but are both great photos and show that my '51 is used for everything including a tow car for my '48 raceboat. Hope to add some better photos later that show more of the car with Lindsay.
The models name is Lindsay (York PA) and she did a fantastic job modeling at the showdown (her first) ;).

  26. I think we need some more pictures of your 51 "Ol Skool '51"! That boat would be nice to get a better view of as well. :D

I'm back in. I owned this car years ago and now it's made it's way back to me. I have an Art Morrison chassis for it with coilovers, four wheel disc brakes, power steering, etc and a Lincoln 430 with 8 dueces (but no 4 speed yet). It's coming off this frame this weekend but I'm still a little torn about the engine. It's been sectioned 4 inches and chopped 3.5 inches. I love the look but I can't get the motor under the hood where I'd like it. :(

Maybe you could put 16" wheels on it and drop the mounts a little?
