thanx analog and b-b-bob - i guess you can hook anything to anything , if you want to bad enough . there are prob. adaptors made to put a torqueflite behind a 427 ford , but my question would be why would you want to ? mopar made a great automatic for drag racing , but i think by the late '60's ford had caught up with their C6 . all of ford's factory backed automatic cars used the C6 , and many or most were cammer powered . we KNOW how well they ran . still , people did some strange things , and used some strange combinations back then . but i'm also wondering if that notation in "draglist" might've been mistaken : either "orion" used a mopar engine in front of a torqueflite , or a C6 behind a 427 ford . either way HAD to be cheaper and easier than adapting the torqueflite to the ford . jack
Jack; Virtually no one put a dry clutch in a C-6. A few B&M clutch GM hydros and Turbo 400's, but not many. Clutchflites were the planetary trans of the day and used behind everything. B&M sold the main drive and pump housing adapter drilled for GM, Chry, & Ford, or you did like everyone else and drilled the clutch can to fit whatever with a main drive for how many discs you ran. And they were almost always used with a short tail shaft that made them very compact. And really kind of light weight also. Look at the picture with my name and you can see our clutchflite that had the direct clutch pack bolted together. Virtually indestructable behind a fuel motor with only between round maintenance to the clutch, but they soon gave way to the B&J or the ever popular Lenco with no power robbing hydraulic system. And I'm told Lenco is still the standard today. Who knows what 3spd manual they are actually referring to. Tom S. in Tn.
Hi guys, I'm in the process of building a 65 AWB Coronet "Color Me Gone" tribute car and I'm about ready to send it to the painters. I'm trying to get pics of the car to help him out. This car was sold to Mr. Norm in July '65, so Roger didn't have it for long. I would appreciate any leads. I was going to do a Ramchargers tribute, but I keep hearing the guy who owms the rights is a major league Dick. I tried a couple emails to him to ask permission, but got 0 response. Thanks, Hemibob
thank you once again , claymore . i really appreciate it . here ya go , tom . the mag pic of the souza bros. & dad mustang . i could not get this to post , so i sent it to claymore , who posted it for me . claymore told me the reason i couldn't post it is because the size is huge - and i have no idea what that means , as it's no different than many other mag pix i've posted successfully . but then , i know as much about computers as general motors knows about making a quality automobile ! okay , okay - i may know a little more than that , but that ain't saying much ! i have a few more pix of the souza mustang , but some of them may have been posted here before . jack
great ! thank you , skywolf . i was going to ask if anyone could do that . obviously it's WAY beyond my abilities jack
this is the only other pic of the souza mustang i'm able to post . every other one is a "bitmap" . it's obvious to me that this old dog isn't going to learn these new tricks any time soon , and i don't want to keep bothering everyone else . i never had a problem posting any pix on randy's nascar site , so it must be something different about the HAMB . is there anything we can do to modify whatever system is used here ?
Genuine Jack, If you don't mind trying to learn new things (I'm 61 and I still try to learn at least one new thing a day) get -> Faststone Image Viewer, a free image converter (as a matter of fact I just noticed that there was an updated version from the one I have so I snagged it). You can then browse through your photos, find all of the bitmaps (.bmps) and convert them to .jpgs so that you can then attach them here at the HAMB. Give it a try...you're never too old to learn.
Resize to < 488kb and resave them as JPEG or .jpg instead of bitmap. Jack, is that an old left over Rotunda computer : )) Tom S. in Tn.
Just pulling on your leg skywolf You did a good job of putting it back together But ya forgot to blend the Paint(@ the s&o ) LOL
Now yaaaa know when it's freeee you are to be getting it all not just parts of it LOL . Parts Or peices I like this thread anyway
hope these pix haven't been posted before , but i thought it would be neat to post pix of one of my favorite cars , driven by my favorite drag racer .
you young whippersnapper smarty pants - when i was a young pup like you , i learned TWO new things every day [darn punk kids - when i was 61 i thought i knew everything , too !] . but i'm now 64 , so maybe that's the cutoff date for learning anything new . seriously , how am i supposed to learn this stuff when i'm given instructions in a "foreign" , mumbo - jumbo language ? and sometimes i'm told to try something that doesn't seem to fit with my &*%#$@*& computer [ sorry for that outburst - i hope there are no kids reading this ] . and to top it off , my absolute hatred for this infernal thing has given me a blind spot , i'm sure . okay , now that you've listened to my diatribe , what the heck is faststone image viewer , and how do i get it ? are there instructions with it ? they would have to be simple - remember , my motto is "DUH !" jack P.S. - and don't expect miracles !!!
The 64 Comet I bought in 1980, this is the original "Dyno" Don Nicholson car, and traded for a 63 Lightweight Galaxie in 1984. The rear wheels were moved 10" forward and the front were in the stock location.
Genuine Jack, You only need to click on the link I provided (that would be the Bold, Italicized & Underlined thingy in my post). That will take you to their site where you can download it. If there's a file to download with an '.exe' at the end of get that one. Save it to your 'Desktop'. Once it's finished downloading double-click the .exe andit will self-install. Their website also has handy 'Help' files for the cobwebbed-brained old farts out there. And I'm catching up to ya old man...I'm gonna be 62 here real soon.
thanx kid . but i'm going to have to get my "frustration tolerance" level up before i attempt it . just getting this blasted chevy powered computer to do what it's supposed to do [ turn on , go to a specific site , turn off , etc.] sometimes causes more frustration than i can handle . and i'm not saying this thing is old , but it's a lot of work shoveling all of that coal trying to get up a head of steam . anyway , thank you very much , sage . i'll try it when i find myself very , very calm ! jack
I often wonder where Doug is after they left Franklin. Thomas Baker told me probably the Cayman's or somewhere. With all the violence, I wouldn't want to be there today. Nash was the very best industry and employer this area ever had. Tom S. in Tn.
