I took today off and took my coupe for a ride. It was a beautiful day in Maine and the ride was great. To think that about the same time I was enjoying my ride a terrible thing like this was happening to someone who started out the day doing the same thing, makes me very sad.

It's The original Bigdaddy hacking into my buddies account from Santa Maria. I have spoken with Erics mom she is at a loss for words. His wife is in ICU And has a punctured liver and fractured ribs along with facial abrasions. I am at a loss being up here and knowing he isn't going to be meeting us. Just pray for the family please.

Sometimes when we are in our Rods & Kustoms we are as venerable as a motorcycle to the traffic dangers especially here in the SoCal.

    Terrible....

I didn't know any involved but when a fellow hot rod member suffers from a tragedy like this, it affects all of us...

I know I can't do much, but I will keep all in my prayers..

WTF is the world coming to? First I get woken up to my friend's shoebox getting stolen out of the driveway of his friend's house, and now I see this.. Im tired of all these a-holes in heavy trucks with no special licenses driving like a theif who just robbed a bank because they didn't give them selves enough time to get to their Monday through Friday job. Now a man is dead, someones injured and one less Hot Rod that in my opinion can not be replaced.. Sickening.

  10. This just makes you sick,I can't imagine having to deal with this in anyway.Sorry for your loss to the people that are involved.RIP

  11. this realy sucks, another hot rodder gone....well he went doing what he loved i guess.

  12. As sad as this is, let's not jump to conclusions about the guy driving the truck that hit him. This was apparently a multi car deal and there may not have been anything the guy could do. We just don't know so let's not get a rope until the facts are known. It doesn't help Eric, his family or friends.

Better way to go than cancer. I would take fatal wreck over months of slowly dying anyday.

That is a hard one to say, I lost my only brother about 2 months ago. It was hell to watch him die a slow painful death but I got to say good buy to his face and tell him that I loved him. He was also able to die knowing his wife and little kids would be taken care of and watched out for.

Death sux any way you look out for it!

I like that idea, I will do at some point this weekend.

I hope someone who knows the family will start a paypal donation on her and the mods will make it sticky. I would send some $ there way, it will be a long road back.

  24. I'm saddened by the whole situation.
    Godspeed and R.I.P.

My wife and I have Been driving a model A for several years now and I have often thought of the frailty of the car when compared to virtually every other car on the road. The risk for injury or death in a accident is pretty high and a careful eye out for hazards of all kinds is essential. Even so....an accident can, and often does, happen so fast that there just isn't time to avoid it.
Just that thought is enough to make me feel nervous in heavy traffic or on the freeway. But reading about this just makes me sick. I can't even imagine the pain and the suffering that family and friends are now facing.

Makes me think about just not getting out on road in my hot rods.

  26. Horrible accident!
Prayers and condolences to the family,,

This same thinking went through my head as I traded my A coupe for a 55 Buick....But I still own and ride 2 Harleys, one with a sidecar that my 6 year old rides in, I'm extremely cautious while riding, as someone else mentioned "as if you're invisable"....

all in all, it's a terrible tragedy that I wouldn't wish on anyone, and my condolences go out to the friends and family.
