With sadness, I send my Condolences to Eric's family, friends, and Hot Rodding Brotherhood........ Just three weeks ago, I purchased a set of lap belts for my '29 A CC PU. I know they'll provide marginal protection, but it just may save me or my passenger's life...... RIP Eric, and watch over us........
Medical Examiner said "Blunt Force Trauma to the chest". I wonder if he had his steering set up with the two off set U-joints or the dangerous 1 U-joint set up. Either way it wouldn't hurt for someone to post some pics of the DOs and DON'Ts of steering shaft set-ups.
So sorry to see this. Ive been following it all day since it started this morning. It brings back a lot of memories. I have buried a lot of good friends in my 55 years because of car accidents. Some there fault and others the fault of other people or animals. I buried my only child just over 2 years ago because of an automobile. I feel sorry for his family and friends you never forget.
Terrible, just terrible. My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends. R.I.P. I don't know if this is appropriate or not,,, it is the first thing that came to mind when I read of this tragedy. It is the last verse of a song called Take Me With You To The Mountains by the Del McCoury Band. There are songs that are not sung and words that are not said. Lines that rhyme that are out of time still echo in my head. I guess I'll have to be satisfied with the final words he said Dying in my tracks boys, sure beats that Houston bed. Drive safe and may God bless.
Clik I know you mean well but......... Lets not speculate here. The owner of the car and Erics best friend is here on the HAMB grieving the loss of his pal. He does not need us picking apart the design of his destroyed hotrod. Out of respect please delete your comment and I will delete mine to erase your quote.
I agree 100% now it not the time to speculate on something you dont know for sure or pick apart someones build who is grieving the loss of a friend!!!!
I'm so, so sorry for the loss of your best friend. We all handle the tragedy of death of a loved one, whether it be a relative or a best friend, in our own way. You have to ask yourself what and how would Eric want you to be. I don't think he would want you to isolate yourself from the people that cared for him as well as for you. You have the support of the H.A.M.B. community to help you through this tragedy. Don't try to come to grips with this by yourself. As I'm sure other people have said, he passed doing something he loved, driving a hotrod with his wife by his side.
Man, awful. One of the hardest threads I've ever read here on the hamb. RIP Eric and condolences to everyone that knew him. Sounds like just a bad accident. Could happen to almost anyone, anywhere at anytime.
Man this really sucks. JeffreyJames and I just hung up on the phone and he was telling me about this. So sorry for you loss. This is really hard to swallow. RIP brother.

Skip, life is not fair, a car can be fixed or replaced but the life of a dear friend can not be. I have just gone through this, it is no fun. I pray for Eric and his family and strength for you. God bless.
