I can show up with a 1 ton Chevy winch truck that has foldable Gin Poles,I'm about 70 miles east of Joplin just past Coffeyville Kansas,I can help but want to work an 8 hour day on Saturday.I think its a 10,000 lb winch and can lift about 1500 lbs at the poles. It will take me about 30 minutes to set it up.I can leave here early like 5 am or so and be there in about an hour and a half.Pm me if this might help ya.I dont want to be around on Sunday with the circus and side show coming to town.I dont really care about the bbq feed, just a bit of a break and a sandwich at lunchtime,so we could keep working.

Not to hi=jack thread, but just learned my niece and her family sustained damage to their home and furnishings. House is still standing, but windows blown out and interior furnishings soaked with water and some debris.
Their Moutaineer has lost all gl*** but is somewhat drivable. Will probably get totaled, tho.
Good news is Amanda, Arik and both of the children are ok and suffered no injuries.
They have had help, but may store some belongings in my shop.
So sad that the death toll has risen, but I am grateful for the success stories and am extremely proud of the folks who are on the HAMB.
It has been demonstrated in the past that when misfortune rears it's ugly head, HAMBER's come to the rescue.
You all secretly wear SUPER men and SUPER women costumes.

Man, you guys are the best! I'm all choked up reading this thread and being mad that I'm broke and have bad knees and back. I don't know what I can do to help, but I work at a machine shop and I know a lot of people, so If you think of anything, let me know and I will jump all over it. My friend Johnny is putting on a car show (Saint Louis Shimmy) here in Saint Louis on June 6th, maybe we can try to collect clothes and such. If you get a feel for what is needed most, let me know and I will hit up all the local car shows and car clubs. The tornado in Joplin has had no impact on me personally, but let me say thanks for all the people you are helping and also thanks for reviving my faith in humanity.

so we got everything set up today that big ken and rudy j brought up from the lone star st, cleared a few yards, feed some people, help out a few families with some supplies, all in a days work! the guys where kickin *** to day, even with the 1 hr long storm at lunch time.

while cruising around today with the lunch delivery, rudy and i saw a dog being rescued under a front porch, it lived across the street! it was alive and visibly shaken , but standing and walking on his own.

    set up.

I'll be in Joplin somewhere Sunday with fellow Hamber Long Roof Larry. I noticed the TV interview in the last set of pics. Is there a link on a website for this? I'm not an attention *****, but I had been thinking it would be cool for someone to contact some mainstream media to let them know all the help everyone has done here. I think it would make a great human interest story & put the HAMB in a good light. The sticky auctions on the front page, offers from all over to help or donate are just amazing. I was born in nearby Carthage and have lived in SW Missouri all my 47 years and am really proud of all the support everyone has given!

  13. I'd like to thank Ryno, Big Ken and Rudy J for coming by our house and
helping me round up some of my car parts that blew into the back yard
of the next door neighbor. It wasn't anything quite as heavy duty as
some of their other good works like cutting up trees......but every bit
    of ***istance helps.

It just takes time when trying to sort thru things that are strung around
the house and yard. Our house was heavily damaged and will be a total
loss, but part of it is still standing. Some things in some areas went
flying to the east, while some other items didn't really go anywhere.
Of course, my wife says I have too much "stuff".

Supposed to get together with the insurance adjusters tomorrow (Sun)
to view damage to the Plymouth. Seems pretty minor compared to
what happened to most cars. Our regular vehicles are both totals.

I saw three scratched places and a 6 inch or so cut in the top.

Oh, was that black Chrysler with the leg in the trunk on Jefferson Ave
in a driveway at the end of the house? If so, I know the owner Chuck.
    Did it have much damage??

To all who came here to help - Thanks!
Just shows the power of the H A M B.

Hey, what is Jerry's name on here? Im still trying to put real names together with board names of everybody I met.
Sorry we snuck out by the way. My buddy Marty had some family there in town that was needing help, and I wanted to start working my way out from the area since traffic was getting worse. Thanks for letting me come up and help with your efforts!

And you should be proud of your boy, that kid seems to have a great work ethic! He was right there in the middle of everything when he was out there with me, Jerry, and Marty. I told him I will introduce him to my boy when we come up for the drags!

  19. Our HAMB brothers and sisters continue to amaze me. You guys are the tops. Great work. Be safe.

Nice meeting everyone today also. Couldn't believe all the people that were out helping anyone that needed it. Like I told Ryno, maybe we'll all meet again under better cir***stances in a couple of months.

  23. Yes, I do know the owner of that old Chrysler.
That's actually a low mileage original that's sat outside for a number
of years. Did you notice the 55 Crown Vic in the garage? I think he
just had some restoration work done on that. Hope the owners of
that home are OK......I need to call him.

Wonder what's the story with that leg in the trunk.

I'm sure all the folks helped by HAMBers truly appreciated it.

Just got home from my long weekend. I was able to stay for a few hours and help clear off a couple of big trees from a house, I didn't have a chainsaw but I was able to drag off wood like the mule that I am. Good work folks, thanks to everyone who donated, both time and effort to help out Joplin. As you can see in Ryno's pics, I had my camera with me and I shot some pics until I got tired of lugging it with me while moving tree limbs, I'll post those up tonight.

Ryno, I dropped off some boxes of relief goods Saturday and put them on your trailer. Were they still there when you got home?
