The tater chip van chassis is what is most commonly used on these.

I wondered where that one went. I was watching that one, as it looked like a really interesting project!

Those guys at SAR are real good at what they do. They had me until it was made wider though...

Hauled home my new 54' Ford COE.
Has a "Y" Block in it, but will probably get a newer chassis to put the cab on.

Would you consider this 1966 Ford N-600 a COE?
It's got a 332 FE and the engine is about 2/3 under the cab.
Truck is super clean and has the high roof custom cab design with two tone dash and*****erfly hood.

If you want some inspiration search for "F600 Big Job". It's on a GM chassis with a Duramax motor, but what a project! My good friend did the whole interior in black leather... must been 20 cows inside that truck!

It's close enough to a true cabover that it
    works for me!:D Those 'stub-nose' N-series
Fords are really cool and not very common
    anymore. Great find!

Back in the early '90's a trucking company I
drove for had a '65 Mercury N-900 tractor
with a 534 Ford gas engine they used as a
yard mule for shunting trailers around. It was
pretty much a piece of worn out junk, and I
think it eventually went for scrap - but I
    wouldn't mind having it now.

I was wondering what was peeking in from the left of this shot...
very much curbing my envy on your acquisition. I need to go check on a nearby '54 I've been chasing. Their neighborhood took a direct hit in Tuesday's twisters... A buddy that lives down the street told me it was there, but didnt notice condition.

    You got it right.
I bought the 66 earlier this year after I gave up on a reasonable priced, location and conditioned 40-50's model COE. Then I just found the 54.
Basically I'm just a glutton for punishment with three other on going projects already in my garage... (69 SC/Rambler, 46 Chevy Bobber Truck & 83 Jeep Rockcrawler).
I still think you have to buy a good deal on the rarer stuff when you find it though.
I guess I may sell the 66 to eliminate a project now, but it's so dang nice for being 45 yrs. old, I really don't want to.

The long hood ford is an LCF (Low Cab Forward), they replaced COE's in the 60s sometime, GM and others made them also.

They never replaced the COE, but they were sold along side them.

Finished the cover for my filler pipe Friday. Rear fenders are ready for the sand blaster. On to the stake pockets this week. The “to do”list is getting near the end. :)

I can't help but wonder if that Rushmore Flour truck delivered supplies to the bakery my Mom shopped at when I was a little tyke, late fiftys, early 60s. That truck has potential. I still remember how good it always smelled. ( The bakery not the truck lol)

Son -of a******, i thought i had seen it all till i saw the dash in this one--its early, a lot different in a 36-8 gmc little truck kind of way--compared to the later type

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=219018&page=69

i need to make a mold off this!---on second thought i need to stick with what I already gotta get done. It would have to be changed around a little to make the later cranks work.
