Alright I 've been stripping the car down with paint stripper. I want that shinny bare metal look on bottom and cadillac black roof. What grid or steps do i go after all the paint is off?

80 grit da sander to get the shit off. After that you gotta do it by hand with 80 and down to 320 and finer. Apply gibbs brand oil to protect the steel while you move on to different panels so it doesnt rust or just clear it

are you gonna leave just random pieces of trim on and leave the holes unfilled like on the model, or you gona warp the sheetmetal intentionally filling them for a more street look? I think you shouldd warp it a little, it will flow better w/ the bondo spots. ;)

LOL . real simple keep chrome , Start from scratch but roll it bare for a while. The car was oem red n some dummy threw a cheese Dollar Store paint job. The model was trashed by my kid so I had a little fun.. This is my second Caddy project last one was 64 With a LT1 I bought Back to life. :D . I got most of car stripped Except bondo areas. Would it be worth Soda Blasting it now Or just DA it from Here.

That is a good lookin' Caddy, it'll look different alright with the bare metal look. I hope it doesn't rust on you, it would be a shame.

You can say whatever the fuck u want.

I been looking into all sorts of primers/sealers. I want a flatz look just debating which way to go. Now if I throw some cheap primer on it , it will still rust , Either way im starting from scratch.

If your goin with the "pimp" look go with a flat red, black top and red L.E.D. underglow. That would look smooth.....

I decided to toss my big wheels out the door and run the stock hub cabs and some ww cokers. I was thinking for the mean time spray some rattle can on bare areas till im ready to paint it while I do the body work. or order a case of gibbs .I think I will play with photo shop different colors

So you're not going with the bare metal look anymore? If this is the case I think you have made a wise decision.
That was the bit I was having trouble understanding.

^ Some people think that flake is ugly as shit.

I had a 64 cad and when my buddy got it he had it painted in a 2005 scion black cherry, came out very nice for that body style.... satin gold metallic also looks real good on the 63-64 caddys.

The bare metal may be a huge pain in the ass in the end but can look cool if you get the metal straight and sand it with a really fine grit.

  21. you can dp-40 it first then do your body work. if you like the look of brushed metal you can paint it base clear silver [ a white silver not blue] then wet sand the clear with 600 grit and don't buff it. it will look like metal.

Why, you Sir are absolutely correct! Thank you for taking the time to point that out. But is it traditional?

You could use Kosmic Khrome and float the whole car with mud to make it straight with half the work.
