I am on my way back to Plano, TX from helping in Joplin and I broken something internal in my 48 Plymouth flathead. Anyone close with a trailer that could get me off the EZ Mart lot to somplace safe until I can get a trailer to get it home would be greatly appreciated. You can call me on my cell at 972-670-1433. Kirk
PM hotrodladycruiser here on the HAMB she keeps a list of anyone liable to help you along with ophone numbers etc.
Kirk, I hope the NSRA contact I gave you can help. When you get situated please let me know how you made out. My NSRA Fellow Pages came in the mail today and as I was reading your post my wife handed them to me . What timing. John
Glad you got help, wish I was closer, would have been there in a jiffy. As you see, my name is Kirk, and I too own a 48 Plymouth. Wow, irony can be so ironic sometimes......
Big Ken to the rescue. He drove up with the Pushrods trailer and we loaded the Plymouth up for the ride home. Left a bit of oil on the parking lot of the EZ Mart so I think it is critically injured. Had it in the driveway by about 8:15. Thankfully I already have a new 230 on the engine stand that I was going to have in by the Drags so I just move up the install a bit. Will do a post mortem on the current 218 once I have it out to see exactly what went wrong.
If I'd been on earlier I would have been happy to come get ya. Durant is only about 30 miles from here.
Well I did a partial post mortem on the 218 this afternoon. Pulled the head to take a look but have not pulled the pan yet to see what if anyting is hurt in the bottom end. Can't for the life of me figure out why Big Ken had to come get me and trailer it home, still had 5 good cylinders to run on. What you see is exactly how I found it. #1 Exhaust valve lost its head was laying on the piston #1 Intake valve must have been tired as it was laying down on the job Then I rolled the head over and think I found the very rare two plug per cylinder performance head.
