Jeff I didn't realize you still had that black stepside truck. I can't believe it took me this long to find this thread on Dennis truck. Its looking bitchen. I had a similar Idea to the way you did the tailgate on the truck, for my 64 chevy pickup but i was going to find another fleetside bed and cut the upper side out and mould it in all the way across the tailgate and the back of the bed. then pie cut the corners several times to make it wrap into the sides of the truck. Those hubcaps look like the ones off the purple chevy sedan dennis had are they the same ones?
Good eye, yes they are.........he got them back, one of the few parts left of that car, it is currently undergoing a rebuild and not sure how the car is going to look, I think the guy is changing it ...WRONG MOVE.......
Oh no!! That is as bad as changing the Lil Koffin.. Gotta leave Kustom History alone. The bed of the truck is turning out very kool. Love what ya did to the back end. I've seen a lot of roll pans on 58s and it makes the bed look to square. Looking at the pics the truck will have a lot of Kustom cleavage going on. Thanks for posting the up dates Kan't wait for Salina... Happy Trails, Mick
I am going to start a new job to raise some $ to get to Salina. I am wondering if I should sharpen the pencils in the cup or leave them orig. I have the darkest sunglasses and a white cane and a corner near the college world series to work my schill job. Hope to see this super stuff in Kansas, is that goofy chic Dorothy still running around there with that little yapping dog? ~sololobo~
That chevy dennis had will always be one of my all time favorite cars hes had. I remember seeing it change over the years it always got better while he had it. I dont know what it looks like now. I still remember runnin down the highway next to him with my 60 when it had straights on the 6 in my car knowbody could hear anything except the buzz of our pipes lol. Thats been many moons ago.
I'll buy a pencil, how much is shipping to a 74029 zip code? That would have been a LOUD, I bet that guys ears ring'd for days after the two of ya got together. Both of ya had to have the loudest 6 bangers ever. I sure miss Fort Smith...
fink if you just want to change your headlights to please the masses. You might consider the 39 plymouth idea. Get two sets of them mount the top set normal then mount the bottom set upside down. Then you would still have square lights, they would be vintage, and they would stay with the square look. Just an idea.
I don't want to please the masses, I just need to educate the masses and get them to think outside the box. sometimes square is ok, look at all the square people that are kool. it just works!
more weekend work, dialing in gaps and making this thing NICE ! This truk has more work done to it then most will notice, but it is going to be killer! and thats what seperates the men from the boys, and besides Dennis is loaded!
You told me last week that you were loaded? Ya going to be in town Saturday? I'll be rolling through town around 9ish Thanks for the update... Happy Trails, Mick
Impressive man... Massive amount of work going into this truck....I"ll bet 99% of people will not realize the changes you're making unless they happen to be real familiar will the factory design. Rounded corners and welding the seams are something I've always wanted to do...but just didn't have the patience to tackle... Hope to get a better look in Salina this year....really looking forward to it...
Thanks , I am on my 3rd roll of welding wire, It is alot of work but the results will be worth it to the 4 people that notice. back to weldin'......
So Dennis doesn't own his 52 Chevy anymore. I loved that car. His and another Chevy in Wichita a guy named Mitch owned influenced me to buy my '52 2 Door Sedan. Thats been 11 years and four kids ago! Dennis you always have badass rigs!
Just keeps getting better and better, looking forward to seeing the new stuff when we do the run on the 18th!
Gaps are looking good, corners rounded, every seem is welded, A few more mods and this thing will be done on the welding part anyway.......
Yup changing that car much is a wrong move. Truck looks good you third coast fools do alright! See ya fellas soon Dave Hitch FBBF
Here are some updates, and a pic of the stude as the lighting was pretty kool tonight. I welded the fender to the cowl, and smoothed off all the edges, since the fender is welded on and can never come off anyway, and rounded all the door corners, starting the finish body work, yes I use bondo, get over it... primer coming soon. this thing has alot of changes !
more, sean was here last week checking out our work, and we were putting together ideas on what to do on the interiors, the stude is going to be just far out, crazy shit. and the 58 isn't going to be mundain, either, I am excited !!!
