Around about 1961, I was a snot-nosed, 15-year old kid who wanted a '36 Ford 3-window coupe. I couldn't afford one then and haven't been able to since.

About the same time, (1961), a guy out in Ontario, NY put a '36 3-window into "temporary " storage where it remained until last November, when I guy I know found it - 50 years in storage.

Today I traded my '55 Buick for the 3-window and I'm REALLY excited and it takes a lot to get a 65-year-old guy excited!

Note the old decals in the back window and the slip-trough seat belt. All like they were when the car was stored.......

Congrats on getting something you always wanted.. :)

Like those H.C. decals, too. I used to get those catalogs back then, with those cartoons

  12. Hey I was 15 in about 1961 too. Wanted a car like that but never had the cash. Did pick up a '31 sedan when I turned 16 - wish I still had it.
Congrats on finding that nice car. I'm way jealous now.....

You're right - sorta and I didn't mean to misrepresent it. It's not, however, a "modern build", except for the paint sanding and firewall repaint and a few replacement parts on the 283, but I appreciate the rain for my parade.

The guy I bought the car from was told me he was sanding the paint off to repaint the car and decided he liked the look about halfway through, so he slopped some polyurethane over it. He also repainted the firewall white. I plan to strip ALL the paint off this fall/winter. Body is amazingly straight.

Rebuilt, patina,ed, old, barn find, who gives a*****, nice ride. Has all the right stuff and guys are dropping the same amount of money as their house mortgages to build one. You did great, congrats!

I was 15 in 1960, picked up a '30 2dr sedan then. Wish to hell I still had my '30 now too.
Great find. Love the decals too. If I remember correctly I think my '50 Olds had a few parts from good old "Honest Charlies" on it.

Nice one, It looks like you made a pretty good trade. But I'm big fan of 55 Buicks too having had one when I was 19.
