Making this a 3 year streak, my car once again had mechanical problems at York. It doesn't seem to happen anywhere else. It's a good place to have a problem since there are tons of people there who can fix cars way better than I can. A p***enger side front wheel bearing gave up on the way there. We limped it over to the Fair Grounds and were first in at MHRA's rod repair area. I can't say enough good about those guys. They had it stripped down to the spindle quickly and saw I needed new bearings and a rotor. The car has an ECI disc brake kit and ECI was a 2 minute walk away in the Toyota Building. They had replacement parts in stock, so I was having good luck. The spindle washer got really chewed up and was able to source a different washer and castle nut off of a couple guys in the flea market selling old early Ford front ends, and they gave me the stuff free. MHRA had the car back together by 12:30.

A huge thanks to Al, Steve and the guy with the Harley Davidson tat (sorry I didn't get your name) at MHRA who got me back on the road!

Here's what it looked like about 11 o'clock:

My goodness, what a bunch of rare beautiful autos. I am stunned by the chevy woody, the Airflow, and the 53/54 remade psuedo Nomad wagon. Two Merc phaetons side by side is awesome. Thanx for the trip to York. ~sololobo~

Nice pics. On my way to Carlisle on RT 15 yesterday morning and on my way back home, I saw a few cars that were obviously not going the the Ford show in Carlisle ( few street rods, a pretty 62 Impala wagon, and a 50 Chevy hardtop). York is close by, so I guess they were heading there instead.

I had only planned to go for the day on Friday, but drove back in a late model on Saturday as a spectator. Here are some shots.

This little '39 & '40 group alone was worth the trip.

I have not been to York in many a year but it sure looks like there are a lot of empty parking spaces compared to the old days with all the cars double parked in the lanes.

You should have seen the swap meet area on saturday it was a like a ghost town and the vendor buildings were just as bad. From what I was told the car count was down too.....

The sign on the red Nomad started at $15k, was reduced to $12.5, reduced again to $10k. Pics don't show the Chevelle frame.

    Thanks for sharing the pics!
Any idea what the car count was.

Used to be around 5,000 when it was 48 and older. But I know the economy is straining everything right now.

this year was my first time in the so-what camp, there were a lot of real cool cars in the show ,but it sure is not the nats east that i remember, swap meet very small, with the added year cars still a low car count & most of all watching all the cars roll out @ 6 o clock ,man what happen to the fairground cruzin', i know the inside camping will never come back ,i sure would like to see the fairground a little more than a ghost town at night ,just maybe we could get together next year for a little monkey see monkey do !!! get a group of cars & start making laps !!! i know i'm up for it !!
