Nice JT. Just had most of the alloy bits on the race car engine done as well. They really do come up a treat.

Progress continues to move at a slow pace. Here is the status since we last met.

The floor has now been matched to the Firewall.
The steel bracing has been measured up and templated. Measurements have gone off to the Lazer cutter.
The windshield was measured up and fabricated. It is only in rough form at the moment so it can be used for Body Mock-up. I had the swing out windshield hinges fitted and it will now be incororated in the body steelout. It will be Chromed & Glassed once body build is complete.

While all this was going on I purchased a steering wheel (1941 Pontiac) from Brigrat here on the HAMB. Check out the restoration work on the wheel if you like at this thread. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=590437

Some other bits such as Cycle Guards, Rear Wheels, Engine components and Radiator have also been purchased.

Here is a better pic of the Intake..... It is owned by Spider (The Spades). He thought I'd like it sitting on my engine so has parked it there for the time being.

Here is the story on it - It is a home made intake that was run on a car at the 1956 Melbourne Grand Prix. I'm not sure how many Flathead's raced in this Grand Prix, but it might have been a car from a support event to the Grand Prix. It is a Crossflow manifold that is built predominantly for Top End. Not very streetable I would think.

But I would have liked to see the Accelerator Linkage for this set-up.....

It looks quite crude up close...... so it's to your liking Lowsquire.

Everytime I go back for a visit there are more bits added to my Engine..... The Timing Cover & Distributor werent ther last time either... I'm hoping some Ardun's may apear next time I go over.....

OK Guy's.... I made the trip out to Pakenham to check up on things and push them along........The progress is picking up.

The lazer cut steel required for the Firewall brace has been received and put in place for measurement purposes.

The two 5mm steel straps that run along the frame rail to sandwich the Body to the Frame have been installed.

The steel bracing for the door frames have been welded to this. The inner roof frame has been made and ready for installation.

The door steel-out has commenced. Some further bracing from top to bottom and an intrusion bar will be added as well as bailey channel supports.

Ford Laser antiburst locks have been sourced and fitted. The door hinges are en-route from Brookville and are expected within the week. This will enable the doors to be hung and the outer door skins attached.

The Trunk lid is in place but the Steeling hasn't started on that yet.

My apologies for the shit pictures. In my excitement I forgot to check the camera settings and left the iso too high....

Whilst I've been waiting for all this Body work to be done, I got busy planning my engine rebuild..... My initial thoughts were to build a strong bottom end, something that can take more power than the current set-up I'm planning with the Eddie Meyer intake I have..... Maybe a Blower, Arduns, or both in the future. Steel Caps, Stroker Crank, H Beams, Ross Forged Pistons, adjustable lifters and a Beefy Isky Cam was the way I was headed.

With the Aussie dollar strong against the Greenback, I started looking around the various US sites for these parts. I also priced up the machining required for my Block and started doing the sums on the rebuild..... even with a strong Aussie dollar the figures were starting to stack up.

Then through my travels of these sites I found this ol school engine builder out of Fresno CA who had just finished rebuilding this 8BA pictured below.... A number of phonecalls, emails, and pictures later it was purchased.

It's not as strong as I was planning to build but it sounds like a good streetable engine none the less. The Intake will be swapped out for my Eddie Meyer one and I'll see which heads suit best (My Offy's or these Edelbrocks). There will definitely be a colour change (too many Red engines out there).

I bought a set of Head studs that I'll fit to it and maybe investigate if I stick with the mechanical fuel pump and distributor or go electronic, but more on that when it arrives.

It is currently on the water making it's way over to me. I'll have more info to share once I get it here.
