If Phil`s car is the one in your avatar, then Phil would be foolish to trade it off on some ugly ass bisquit. Phil could always put a 409 in his 55 and have the best of both worlds. Just my opinion from a 55 sedan delivery owner.

Well let's say "Phil" was having lunch one day, and a red HOT waitress started coming on very strong to "Phil".
Does he dump his wife for some hotty?
Does he "go on the sly" to take a walk on the wild side?
Does he smile in appreciation for a temptation he resists?

A simple smile is often enough.

Fight the impulse and take a moment to appreciate what "Phil" has now.

    You are indeed wise, sir.
Phil says there's a million fine looking women out there, but not every one will bring you lunch at work, if you know what I mean.

On the other hand I would be tempted to trade my wife for one like Phils;) (Not really) but that would be nice:D

  8. "Phil" needs to scrounge up some cash ... then head to the nearest Roulette table ... put it all on Red ... I mean Black ... no, yes, no Red ... wait ... (no more bets)

Tell us how it turns out ...

Phil made his decision already, he just wanted to know what you would do. Phil just can't get his mind off this foul temptress.
Next time I see it, I'm going to get the info for a HAMB member, because she's a steal at that price and I'd like to see someone who appreciates this type of car own it.
    I mean Phil would.

What he said. They still demand top dollar, even now that you can build a brand new 55 from a catalog.
In my opinion, average people see a 55 and instantly think "cool".
Average people will see a 62 Biscayne and think "why does it look so cheap?".
NOT that that reasoning matters at all to me, just saying the 55 Chevy is one of the greatest, most popular cars of all time, from hardcore "car guys" to people who couldn't tell a Chevy from a Ford. The 55 is a much better looking car (subjectively, of course), and has a much larger aftermarket to support it.
In the end, I think it's just the hardcore gearhead in me that wants the 62. It's appeal in that regard is undeniable. What it is, is just plain bad ass. 409 Chevys, Hemi Mopars, Big Block Fords. Something about those cars just screams "it's all business".
The rest of me wants my 55. My 55 would run circles around the 62 unless i put a lot of money in it (have you priced 409 speed parts lately?), and I would because I want to go fast. But then would I feel bad hacking on an original 409?
It doesn't really matter, I'm not going to get the 62. I'm not giving up my 55 for just about anything. Again, just curious what you guys would have done.

well - I would have nabbed the Biscayne/409....he loves his 55, now he can love his 62. 55s are all over...not so much the 409-powered cars....besides - time for a change

If I were Phil, I'd be in that 409 car so fast it would make your head swim.

Did you ever have to make up your mind by John Sebastian:

Did you ever have to make up your mind
Pick up on one and leave the other behind
It's not often easy and not often kind
Did you ever have to make up your mind

Did you ever have to finally decide
Say yes to one and let the other one ride
There's so many changes and tears you must hide
Did you ever have to finally decide
Sometimes there's one with big blue eyes, cute as a bunny
With hair down to here, and plenty of money
And just when you think she's that one in the world
You heart gets stolen by some mousey little girl
And then you know you'd better make up your mind...

Sometimes you really dig a girl the moment you kiss her
And then you get distracted by her older sister
When in walks her father and takes you a line
And says, "You better go home, son, and make up your mind"
And then you bet you'd better finally decide...

    Just Sayin.................

I think phil should put a 409 in the 55 as well....when i was a youngster in the late 60s,my uncle had a green 55 chevy... rear fender wells were cut ..white painted wheels out back chrome reverse on front.. no front bumper the crown jewel was the 409 and a 4 speed..even as a boy it made you feel funny to see this car.. he was in basic training in georgia before goin to nam.. he had a friend of his drive the car to ga. and on the way there met with a freak accident with an electric fuel pump and burnt it to the ground....i'm sure the memory of that car still haunts him...phil should do it..damn that would be cool....
