After spending so many years in LA and attending the many HAMB focused events... I WANT TO DO A HAMB BBQ up here in the Bay Area.

    Let's get this started!!!

First I'd like to find a nice park that has a good amount of parking. It should have parking close to picnic area so we can BBQ and be close to our cars.

I would prefer it to be in the actual Bay Area. If you picture the map think about the boundaries being.... 280 on the peninsula from SF down to Santa Clara and up 880 on the other side from Milpitas to Oakland. Somewhere in that zone.

Shooting for End of June if possible.

(WE CAN'T LET THE SoCAL GUYS HAVE ALL THE FUN)

    Any park suggestions????

Let me know man. I have a smoker that could do 6 slabs of ribs at a time. Feeds about 20 people or so.

San Gregorio is nice but I'm looking for more San Fran/Bay Area local. Something that everyone can get to easily with out it feeling like a haul.

Thinks along 280 on the peninsula from SF down to Santa Clara and up 880 on the other side from Milpitas to Oakland.

I'm going to cruise by Coyote Point (San Mateo off 101) on my way home from work tomorrow.

Hmmm, subscribed, this may be worth the trip from Nevada if it ends up in Fremont, we'd pick up the grandson, and maybe kidnap "Uncle Ray" for a few hours.

might want to check out the web sites for Cities in area you are looking at. search under Parks and Recreation. usually have a list of parks with info about them. likely will have to make a reservation of some type to hold an area, especially for BBQ, near rest rooms, etc.

Lots of impromptu get togethers by other type of car clubs out on Treasure, lots of parking, nice view(if not fogged in) and easy to get too.

you talking about renting a place? I don't think you can just go hang out at Swiss Park.

Central Park / Lake Elizabeth in Fremont has lots of parking. I remember a few car picnics there in the 70's. picnic areas can be reserved, not sure about reserving a piece of the parking lot. playgrounds for the kids, restrooms.. all the stuff you need.

Del Valle in Pleasanton (?) haven't been there in years, maybe someone who has can chime in.

Ed Levin County Park in Milpitas... up Calaveras Rd. right off 680. I've never stopped there, but have seen it while doing the mad downhill on my roadbike after riding through Calaveras road from Sunol. kinda in the woods. the park is huge on one side of the road, actually comes up behind Mission Peak if you are fit enough to Mtn Bike up that far, but there is a smaller picnic area on the South side of the road that would probably be pretty cool.

been a while since I been up there since I'm an old fat guy now.

Swiss Park in Newark. Plenty of room, shade, and a place for a band if we need one. Not to mention many know where it is at. Being it was the Asphalt Invataional for a few years.

Its also about mid point from the guys in the south bay and those that are across the bay.

Wow.... I knew we could pull this off.

Lot's of good suggestions. Was hoping to do something by the end of this month... but may need to pull back a little to research a park. I never thought about Treasure Island.. hmm.

Trying not to interefer with other shows and evnets but I also don't want to push this back too far.

Also want to make sure this is family freindly so an area with a playground for the kids would be great.

    More to come for sure.......

As long as the date is clear for me I'll be there in my jalopy roadster! I might drag a couple other HAMBers along too, if they wanna go!

Are we going to pass out little "Hi my name is" stickers so I can get to know everyone?

Treasure Island sounds cool, but I've never there!
